if u buy normal non hdr display the colors on the display r not even that bright at max
consider the hdr mode as using it as normal display, but the high end colors r even brighter
myself i have hdr monitor, but i have it in non hdr mode, both windows and game
2) If your gamma is at 50% (like what mine was defaulted at) then increase it to 100%.
3) Toggle HDR back on.
Now 400 should look nice, especially 600 and 1000 hdr modes, which were previously super dark with the ui as well.
Before I discovered this, another workaround was to just switch to borderless and restart the game.... but I didn't like this because I preferred g-sync not to work in windowed applications....
^I edited out the borderless workaround before I deleted the post.
seems to me like a good workaround and possibly worth a bug report to HG's zendesk so they can allow access to that control for adjustment since it is apparently used... i hate that i forgot it was the gamma instead of the contrast... but i'm also happy that you found this topic and corrected me!
