Compare core stats on a ship?
Hi, is there a way to compare core stats? I know that there is a way to compare core stats by analysing a ship (using F - the scanner) but in the "compare ships" option there really should be a way to compare core stats.

I don't really care about overall stats with tools included - the ones I have would move on the other one anyway.

The core stats are shown in brackets, like you say, you see those when scanning NPC ships.
I don't think there is a way to compare stats other than with the scanner. I'm not sure how a comparison type table would work in practice, as ships come and go all the time landing and leaving. Maybe you want to compare your own ships and their core stats with each other? I usually either stand on the staircase in the freighter hangar and simply scan the ships. But at the Anomaly you can cycle through all your 12 ships on a single landing pad very easily. It's not ideal but comparing your own ships and swapping tech about works very well at the Anomaly (it's quite fun) so you do not have to run about in your freighter hangar (which is also fun but takes longer if you have more than 6 ships). It is also possible to screenshot the scanner details if you want too.

Yep. Pure core stats only via F.

Why is it so? Do you guys find this useful? Why would you care the stats of a ship with tools included? Of course I am interested in the core stats, because I will move my tools to the new ship anyway.

Perhaps I am the only one thinking this way, though. If this is true, then it's my bad.

Honestly, the differences are not big enough to matter. It's far more important how the ship looks.

For anyone new to the game they may be unaware why one ship seems more responsive or better than the other. The starter ship is awful to control but yes can be upgraded and tech added to improve it. At least the core stats can compare reasonably effectively and quickly how a ship might perform when tech is at the bare minimum. So it is a good way to initially choose a better ship.

The core damage stat on an explorer type ship can be a low as (30+) and on a fighter up to (330+) which can make a difference. Similar differences between other stats also vary. The class of the ship is probably the first important factor to determine a comparison between ships and followed by the core stats. Exotic ships are more balanced in all core stats compared to different types of ships and explorers have far greater hyper-drive jump distance core stats. Now there are living ships, solar ships and sentinel ships too, with their own advantages and disadvantages and all ship types come in different sizes.

But I agree most players would like a good looking ship. That's where the fun begins as you might find that before finding the best stats for it and so the very expensive process of upgrading or searching begins. : D

In the image you showed, you current ship has slightly higher core damage potential, slightly higher core shield strength, much better core hyperdrive range, and roughly the same core maneuverability as compared to the new ship.

Of course, some of that is due to having more stuff installed (ie, damage potential is skewed because your ship has rockets and a phase beam and the new ship does not)... the white/yellow line under the stat labels shows you the core/modified stats.

Of course, if that information is a non-linear percentage... I dunno. I'm just pointing out the stuff i see.

Edited to add: and all that stuff is really just a drop in the bucket when compared to a maxed-out upgraded ship; is 5 firepower really worth quibbling over?
