Question about Memory Fragments
I went Glyph hunting yesterday and ended up with 16 glyphs and 16 memory fragments.

Looking on the nms wiki, I find that it says the following as part of the "Additional Information" section...

"All other types provide either Upgrade Modules with the class reflecting the progress of searching Universal Loop, or pre-packaged random systems installers"

Having not completed the game yet (I assume the "Universal Loop" relates to the main story??

So am I right in extrapolating that if I complete the "Universal Loop" (if possible) and then using the fragments. I have a higher or certain likelyhood of getting top tier stuff??

I'm not sure what the "Universal Loop" refers to but I talk to every Traveler and visit every grave, even after collecting all my glyphs, and I can say, on harshest difficulty setting anyway, that they always give out crap.

Just to confirm, I unpacked the last 7 I had been stockpiling (all retrieved in my 2nd galaxy after completing all story missions) and they were all basic C class. YMMV and may RNGeezus smile on you.

So even after getting the 16 glyphs, random travellers will still show up and offer grave locations?

Absolutely. They don't stop.

Current save (new start since Echoes) = 150 systems visited, 32 of which I have visited a grave after talking to a Traveler, sometimes 2 or 3 in each system. Does not count randomly encountered graves while roaming planets (there's probably been another 10 of those), but does count Travelers encountered on planet (on Trade platforms, Minor Settlements etc).

Memory fragments were introduced during an expedition. In that expedition, the community sought research to expand the universal loop. The upgrade in tech levels refers to that expedition. I do not know if the tech level now is purely random, or if it is tied to the community research progress that is tracked by the anomaly. I would guess the former, but I have no evidence either way.

I think it's random. I have gotten C-class upgrade modules from memory fragments even when I haven't acquired all 16 glyphs yet (though at that point it does seem more likely that you'll get a good new tech), but I have also gotten good tech after I've gotten the 16 glyphs. But, you can find graves forever, so eventually the RNG is going to smile upon you. :)

The same also appears to be true with the beacons at crashed ships. It seems like to a certain point, you generally get good tech from them, but after a certain point it goes random and might give you good tech, or a crappy upgrade module, or something in-between. Of course with those, it also depends on which option you choose with the little scenario they give.

Of course, everything can also be bought at the Anomaly, but if you choose not to avail yourself of that (I don't), then these two things are often a good source of good tech. :)
