The first system is illustrated above, and 3 of its planets have bases with the various mined resources as listed in the screenshots. The Farm is designed primarily as a stasis device farm (if you have the blueprints for such), but it has all plant varieties if you want to make ignition devices instead. There are also fast cash crops like Venom Sacs and Nip Nip in large harvestable quantities. Generally I try to have each mineral resource at about 10K except for gold at about 20K which can be sold for large unit amounts. The Farm base also has all 10 storage containers. Since all the bases are next to portals, you don't really have to look them up in the base teleporters...just portal there and get the "Portal" expedition milestone while you are at it.
The other bases are in nearby systems (1 unupgraded jump away):
(*) Obeokay system: Base resources, 1 planet: Storm Crystals, P, Co, Su, So, Cu+, Portal
(*) Hikomo system: Base resources, 2 planets:
(*) Ginash system (pirate): Base resources , 1 planet: Indium, Gold, Silver, O2, Portal
Since at the start, nanites should be saved for the expedition milestone for 7000 nanites, - instead of buying the blueprints for the 3 engine types (cadmium, emeril, indium), you can get them free in the "Collector" quest reward: Gather 7 storm crystals to complete the "Bottled Lightning" quest reward, the Wonder projector blueprints, then build the Wonder Projector to get the 3 engine blueprints early in the game.
Some of the must have blueprints/goals in the milestone trek will be:
There are lots of other nanite farms around, but I set up mine in the starting system so you just take a short range teleporter ride if you want to reset the mold balls. I permissioned the options so anyone can use the refiners. I notice most bases have tons of refiners but no public permissions for them.
But it does take patience. This is not an instant gratification game.
I have done 2 expeditions before and just got back to the game and started this one.
and i used this much time because i started making bases and all the regular gameplay i usualy do. so no rush.
but i have seen videos of people saying that they beat the expedition in less than 6 hours. witch make me wonder, how lazy are people?
they are giving you more content to the game, new reasons to log back in and 6 hours of gameplay is to grindy for you?
how short should the expedition be?
Wait a sec, he's about to speak... 🗣️

Having done it a couple times and following other player tips, it can be planned out and repeated quite quickly and no mods needed at all. That's been part of the fun puzzle finding the best way to do a 'speed run'. You could probably use past expedition ships or pre-order ships to do it even faster but you don't even need them as players have marked s-class ships with bases and other useful locations along the route and the nautilon finds crashed ships and submerged ruins underwater directly.
One miletsone unlocks all the glyphs so you can use them to travel about with a little research on where to go. One useful thing in this expedition is the free freighter and ability to use the onboard refiner and crate storage without having to unlock the blueprints or unlock the matter beam transfer tech. That was a surprise to discover and an easy way to have a huge inventory in the start of the expedition, to make the expedition inventories painless.
It's been a clever expedition and a lot of fun. Reminds me of the very first Pioneer expedition.
Along the expedition route players have marked a nice S-Class interceptor, some fun companions and even a living frigate can be found from the start or first rendezvous system using the milestone dream ariel transmitter. The robot companion is a nicely designed reward and fun, The other items too like the super crashed robot part hands and torso. They make great lights and sound great too in the base. The new wonder projector from the milestone reward is really fun to use especially as I discovered it can be resized. You can project animated creature discoveries and even found planets into your base. It's so cool. Every expedition has had some super rewards and this is no exception.
I do so like a bit of sound logic, well spotted. Points all round.
They then perk right up, jump in the forum and spend hours whining and complaining about how the game is so awful, so shallow, so boring, so terrible. What a miserable life that must be. Go do something you enjoy, if there is anything...
And to cap it off all the really nice folks have spent a lot of time in this thread explaining, showing, giving you all everything you need and not a word of thanks. Not a peep, just more whining and unending complaints. Sad times.
As the OP I'm grateful for the helpful advice that a number of responses have provided. This thread has blown up more than I anticipated so I've been holding off on jumping into every discussion.
