So yeah, you can mod it the other way too, if that's what you need.
You don't have to sprint.
The default auto-walk key is 'k' I thought.
However with a generic controller It's been possible for the character to walk for some time now, pressing forward slowly with the joystick.
Maybe the Steam configuration UI and key remapping can use that functionality with legacy keys?
Same, the default walking is already slow enough lol
I think of "walk" as a preliminary you go through to launch a melee jump or JB jump.
EDIT: I have 'K' (auto-walk) bound to one of the game-buttons on my mouse, sprint (shift) bound to another. I just have to tap K, tap Shift, hold down Right Mouse Button, and I'm walking until I tap 'K' again to stop moving or let go of the mouse button to start running.
There are also comments in the mod mentioned by queen M͕͕͗͗i͕͕͗͗y͕͕͗͗o that mention this.
Autowalk, I feel like it should be there as a choice, but how many people would want it?
For me, I would like to have auto-advance on my exocraft.
