Granted, but it's describing the same kind of issue... and there are still bugs in the game that are 5+ years old that have never been fixed (such as refiner and Oxygen Harvester issues where the machine eats its contents instead of giving them to the player).
I consider it reasonable to assume that a suggested fix for what seems to be the same (or a remarkably similar) issue would be worth a try, even if the suggestion is several years old; there's no guarantee that the underlying faulty code has felt the gentle touch of a programmer in the meanwhile.
...oh and if the issue is the settings file being flooded, that old thread you linked won't help anyways
I wasn't trying to be a hero, or even trying to be right... I was just offering my own troubleshooting ideas in an attempt to help Mr Neutral fix their issue. The flooded settings file is another possible problem, one which I didn't know about and thus didn't recommend a fix for. Thanks, by the way, for adding the suggestion; if nothing else, it's one more thing to check and possibly correct on the journey towards regaining the expected and typical functionality.
This is why multiple people can type their responses to a post. It's called a "forum", and it encourages collaborative problem-solving (well, most of the time; there also these things called "trolls", but we try not to feed them because it just makes them more aggressive).
Having said that, and having exhausted my (admittedly short) list of things that I think might help in this scenario, I will be on my way.
Good luck, and have fun!
