It is impossible to orientate yourself on a planet by the landscape
for your situation, all you need to do is install the analysis visor (you were told to do this) and your ship marker will appear on your hud (there is also a compass at the top of the screen and the marker is also on it)
EDIT: sorry, post wasn't meant to sound harsh, the tutorial tells you wot to do, WHEN you need to do it, so if you read the hints, tips (bottom right main screen) and the log and discoveries entries as and when either directed to or when you need to ...you can't/won't get stuck or lost
Click in an empty slot in your inventory to bring up the crafting menu, you will need some Carbon to craft it.
After that, your ship should show up on your HUD, and on the compass on top of the screen.
When you try to use your broken scanner that should give you a quest telling you how to fix it because that's an extremely important first requirement (to find sodium for example).
To find your ship it's the visor that you need. You need to search around with your visor up (once you crafted it on your MT) and marl it by holding the action button while keeping it in your crosshair (a tooltip telling you which button to hold should appear).
Open your quest log and check all the quest available, do the minor quests first they will help you advance the main quests.
I'd also recommand cheking how to build techs on your MT and exosuit, so you'll see what you can get on them immediately.
Actually, you do need nanotubes. That is how you craft the visor. Yes, scanner v visor may have been confused by op and myself. Nonetheless, op already repaired scanner with ferrite and is now looking for a way to construct visor. They could not find nanotube bp in their inventory, and we are providing clues as to how to find it and access it.
You have that blueprint from the start, you dont need to get it.
You say potaytoe I say patahtoe.
