I've had performance issues since a patch around feb of last year, and it hasn't improved. I stutter badly on planets now, when I didn't before, and I have bad lag when going from planets into space. It made me stop playing and uninstall.

What sucks is I used to be able to run it just fine--same card as you. Going from running it just fine to having these issues proves they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ something up in the game.

Mine is a GTX 960 and it works fine If I close all apps and TSR programs, and clear my cache before I start playing. I still sometimes fluctuate between 60 and 50 FPS. My graphics are all set to enhanced. I can get a bit better performance if I change a couple settings I don't care much about to standard and if I turn Vsync off. Vsync likes to smooth out your playing experience so if your system switches between 50 and 60 FPS fairly often it will just stay at 50 FPS everywhere. If you find that annoying you can turn Vsync off but then you'll get some screen tear and stuttering.

No, this mac update has defiantly made the stutters worse. and about unplayable. Again its because how the game engine detects your hardware, so it sometimes works and other times does not. This is why you will often see totally different high and low threads settings in your config file although no hardware has changed.

Mine is setting low to 12 and high to 11. Ive had totally different numbers before and have had it set high higher than low before. No hardware change and no windows updates as they are blocked. If the game was working it would put these the same every time you install or wipe the file but it doesnt.

I find it plays much better when running on a 60hz monitor or a 60hz tv.

I have access to multiple pc hardware including montiors and its stuttering on everything at the minute.

I can make the stutters worse by changing vsync settings and also adding the old Gsync line into the config file. I have a feeling this whole issue is how the game detects the hz rates of monitors or something similar. Its not getting it right. Arma 3 used to get this wrong also and you had to enter the correct value in their config file.

What do you mean? What are these numbers exactly and where are they set? (file)

Since you have a lot of experience with no mans sky on different hardware can yougive any tips on how to get the most performance in no mans sky?

I did noticed some increase in stuttering on the first release. After the patch it has a little improved, but a little i'd say.

No, you're not the only one. The game stutters making it unplayable. And it does so from the very start of the loading screen. Smooth for one seconds, then a short stutter, which keeps repeating. It's nauseating. Before the mac update it ran smooth and totally stutterfree,
Changed the settings to the lowest possible, but none worked as yet. It's frustrating.

yeah after the Switch update the game ran surprisingly good and smooth for me. After fractals the performance took a turn for worse to the point i had to lower my graphic settings almost to fully low.

Probably, yes. I have not noticed any changes with my setup.

Could be any number of factors affecting performance. I've an older PC and it works fine.
Only if I visit very, very large bases over 3000 parts I turn base graphics complexity up, to minimise rendering pop-in. But otherwise the game plays well in fact I thought it was better after the Interceptor update. A fast CPU and computer with 4gb plus video RAM is always good and running fewer applications at the same time is always helpful. In summer months try to keep the computer dust free and cool.

On another thread there is a Nvidia hotfix available here's the link.

(im threat creator)

I improved it by:

deleting the shader cache folder of no mans sky (SteamLibrary\steamapps\shadercache\275850)

A very common tip from 2 years ago when I last played the game was to disable shader cache completely (nvidia driver settings). I will try that next

that could help and also the Nvidia driver update on a separate thread. Maybe this is more on Nvidia than NMS at least in my case

I'm also having performance issues with this game. I only play it in 1080p, not 4K. It's installed on an SSD and I have an RTX 2080 Ti Amp Extreme Core. And I have sudden frame drops both on planet surfaces and in small enclosed spaces! Other games run completely smoothly at full detail level in 1080p (I don't have a 4K monitor and I think my overall performance is too low for 4K gaming). Only NoMan'sSky causes permanent (!) problems! I'm wondering if more powerful hardware would solve these problems, which would mean forcing players to keep upgrading, which for me would be a reason not to play a game consistently! I highly recommend all gamers not to play this game until they change these issues. On the other hand, they will never change anything and will only add more and more content. What HelloGames is doing is inconsiderate to people who can't always afford new hardware!
