How can i skip the Story?
Is it possible for me to skip the story? If yes how?

The easiest way is just not "do" any story mission. Almost everything you need can be obtained from the Anomaly.

If you want to start a new game w/out the story, make sure to select CUSTOM and regardless of preset you pick, down towards the bottom of the settings is "Tutorial" set that to DISABLED.

Your game will start out with everything you need to experience everything but the story. You will have to answer the communicator otherwise your HUD/Radar will be useless and that beeping will become incredibly annoying.

After answering the communicator, just don't fly to the quest marker, simply play the game.

I usually just powerhouse it. Get my free stuff, then play the game properly.

As Geldric says (paraphrasing): don't do the story.

I typically skip the 2 main quests unless I have a reason to do them up to a point. There are other side quests I always complete because of blueprints or quest items. But none of that is required.

If you want to avoid any continuing prompts for the story(s) then start a custom game and choose to skip the tutorial. The tutorial actually leads you into the story so by skipping it the story will remain available, but you can choose when to start it if at all while not getting those annoying prompts.

Basically what @Geldric said....jinx!

Cant find that "tutorial" button.... does it disappear for players who completed all tutorials ?

I was hoping it would also remove all those "tooltips" that keep poping in place of the missions objectives...

You have to start a Custom game then you can disable the tutorial missions. You can't do that if you're already playing a game. This will not disable the story missions and none of the settings will remove the mission prompts and messages. You need to use mods for that.

As Zak mentioned, it's only an option for a NEW SAVE and it does absolutely NOTHING for tooltips.

In fact when skipping the story the game will do nothing BUT keep asking you to go to the marker they gave to kick off the quest.

one thing that nobody has mentioned as yet

as a newbie you 'should' do the tutorial at least once to learn the how-to basics of the early game ...many many new players want to skip the tutorial cos it's 'baby steps' but it's less a tutorial and more an 'interactive' first steps.

trust me ...if you think the tutorial is beneath you now, imagine how it will be months from now, when you still lack basic knowledge other newbies gained on their first day

What do you mean 'skip the story'? You're not required to DO anything you don't want to!

Wander! Explore! Have fun! xD

Why are you even worried about the story?! This game is more open ended than any I've ever seen before or since. Just do what you want to.

The mission messages and nags get quite annoying after couple of hundred hours of ignoring the missions. But there are mods to hide them too.

In a perfect world we would be able to put all the missions we got dropped on us but don't want to do in a folder and never have to look at them again. They wont bug us but would be available to start if we changed our minds. It seems simple - and no I don't want to have a mod do it for me, I want the game to. Ever hopeful.

Dont you still have to do the story to get the construction terminal? Gets annoying to repeat the story over and over on permadeath saves
Eightball Jun 3, 2023 @ 3:41pm
@V3N0M In 'skip the tutorial' custom saves you will be able to obtain everything you need without any of the terminals via the Anomaly and the Construction Research Unit.

In fact, in my current custom 'hard mode' save I started the story lines for the end rewards after I had already unlocked all the build-ables and so each of the 'terminal quests' only gave me upgrade modules when they would have normally unlocked something else.

So in short, you should be fine on perma skipping the tutorials.

I just started a new save to experience the new base computer content. It's actually pretty cool to see some new story, items, etc. be introduced in the starter missions. Other than that though, I now always use the skip tutorial and choose the 'explore' quest in the log to get rid of any nags whenever they might pop up.
