Launched the game on mac but I only see the choices to start a new game.

On steam cloud saves it show full 200mb available.

Did this delete my PC save?

Same.

I hope it did not delete my saves.

I got so much done on the PC version.

same problem here, while a fresh start is nice and exciting, do not want to loose all the progress.

Ye it is nice to experience it all again but im worried to even play it now.

In case it wipes everything on the pc side.

Did hello games say anything?

Here's what Hello games said on their website...
https://www.nomanssky.com/2023/06/no-mans-sky-on-mac/
"No Man’s Sky for Mac is free to millions of players who already own the game on Steam. And for users who use both PC and Mac, cross save is supported between both systems, allowing players to jump from a PC to a Mac laptop, or from a Mac mini to Mac Studio."

Except I'm yet to see that happening. Not for Steam cloud, at least. I'm not sure what went wrong, an odd thought is that Steam might have not backed up the saves at all somehow (the saves are not stored in the steam userdata folder), but that just a thought.

ps. most of the "cross-save" stuff didn't carry over either, ie. titles, quicksilver stuff, expedition rewards... shame!

Btw use this to download your pc saves that are still backed up in the steam cloud. These have old saves as well.

I'm download the most recent saves just in case we can send it back to Hello Games

https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorage
Account stuff, expedition season data, rewards, quicksilver, Twitch drops and so on are stored on the Hello Games server side and from my experience downloaded again with any new save.

Just saying, I dug up my old save before I left behind my Windows PC from last October, dropped it in the Mac NMS' save folder (under Application Support in your user Library) and it loaded seemingly without any issue - great stuff considering that save came from before the whole inventory overhaul.

I wonder if that'll be the case for the App Store's version, though, saves are tied to your Steam ID (or whatever other platform's identifiers).

ps. I think the "account stuff..." are stored in a "accountdata.hg" file alongside the saves, so if Steam didn't sync the saves then it wouldn't somehow sync it - that translates to no account stuff synced.

Yes, you can just transfer your NMS saved games from a PC to a Mac.

PC:
C:\Users\Zak\AppData\Roaming\HelloGames\NMS

Mac:
\Users\Zak\Library\Application Support\HelloGames\NMS

Just copy the folder inside with your Steam ID.

Yes, that's the file with your rewards and stuff.

For some reason it just worked for me now. Yesterday it didn't. I downloaded the patch for the Win version (on my Steam Deck), started my save on the Deck and re-entered my ship to save the game again. I the quit the Steam Deck version and started Steam on my Mac. The sync error was still there but when I started No Man's Sky on Mac it just synced the cloud saves and I was able to continue my Win save on Mac. They are now synced on both systems.

I am wondering if there is a way to move saves from the Switch to the Mac (Steam)? I figure probably not however it would be great. Love my Switch but my Mac Book will look way better.

I had complications due to Steam. I feared that because Steam stopped responding that I lost my Windows Save. I certainly couldn't get anywhere new after that.

We are barely starting on Apple as we are worried about old saves. I mean the whole Apple side is new to us and our old saves.

Close out Apple. Go to Windows or Deck and check on your old save. If it works just fine, then what will it hurt you to uninstall Apple version and reinstall?

That's exactly what I ended up doing and I don't regret it. I've been playing on my Windows Save in Apple half of the day. It's been great.
