From Apple Desktop M1
So this is working so far. I even stored the game on an external spin disk. So far so good. I just can't use an Xbox controller on Apple. Will prob grab a Nintendo controller for this one since I hate keyboard and mouse function for this one. One of the main problems is that I have my Alienware and Mac Mini operating from one monitor and one keyboard. Both stay on together and I don't want to delete my controller from Win to play on Mac. Too many issues with bluetooth on Win. I don't even know if Mac has actually accepted Xbox controllers yet because it doesn't work plugged in either.

Sadly it's uplayable for me.

If you state why or how it is unplayable for you, someone may be able to help you.

I can only suggest manually doing a verify game file integrity after every game install and update. Then shutting Steam down and trying again. Steam seems finicky on this issue.

@SumGumption: just an interested bystander question
how's it running?
i don't care about fps, just is it running ok for you?

If anyone figures out why the Xbox controller support is busted that would be great. Can't exactly go back to M+K on my macbook

So far, it looks pretty good. I don't have the patience for keyboard and mouse on this game. But it did open my Win save perfectly fine. Opened faster than Windows. I'll jump in more after I get a controller for it and tell it how it is then.

It did take a few moments for my keyboard and mouse to actually take commands. It didn't freeze up. I just couldn't move for a minute or so.

I don't think Mac ever allowed an Xbox Controller. It may change on the 5th or so but I don't want to wait.

I would love to test the macOS build but my only available Mac is a mini from Mid 2011.... HOLY christ! that's old enough to get married in Alabama... oops sorry.. it might be Kentucky...

Anywho, it's a 2.3 GHz i5, 8GB DDR3 RAM and Intel HD 3000 w/512 MB GPU... :steamhappy:

Jumpin jiminey - no wonder why my Minecraft server is so slow...

@SumGumption: Lol ...if Apple is serious about courting gamers they're gonna need to change their isolationist attitude towards 3rd party hardware

Definitely. :steamlaughcry: Although, for my set up. I'm probably better off just grabbing another controller for my Mac. It will save me some headaches.

I mean... I play lots of games with an Xbox controller on my macbook. Some require you to disable steam input but any game that supports controllers works fine for me (Except NMS)

To be honest, I'm gutsy enough to try it anyhow. You might be surprised. I think the i5 just might put you in there. The past gaming problems weren't actually because of the Macs but some other issue which I heard was fixed and probably even more so now. Update everything and try again.

Yeah something tells me that: "Apple has become the world's most valuable company, with a market capitalization of over $2 trillion." ... they could literally give 2 💩💩 about changing their existing business model

I'm happy for ANY game ported over to macOS at this point, so to hear that it was NMS was a nice bonus.

Side-note: I couldn't get my PS5 controller working with the game either.

This reminds me of the last upgrade. You may have to go into the actual game and manually set it for your controller. We all had to do that on Windows. I couldn't get my Mini M1 to connect to the controller even though it added it to the bluetooth devices.

Try setting it manually in game to your specific controller.

It's unplayable on an 8 Core/16 thread Intel Mac Pro using a AMD 8GB RX6600XT as dGPU. The Game loads fine and menues are smoth, but as soon as you try to enter a cross platform save or even start a new save, the game crawls to a halt. At best it's rendering 2 or 3 frames per second.
Starting a new save to see if it would made a difference, was the same (It took 5 min after hitting the 'E' to initialize the new game till it was ready for me to do anything at all).

My guess is that they never tested it on intel Macs at all.
