Issues after disabling tutorial?
This might be a niche kind of question, but I figured I'd ask.

I like to start saves without using the Radiant Pillar. I like to search in the wild for a crashed ship instead that I then have to repair to use as my starter ship. I just think it's more fun, probably because exploration is my favorite thing to do. Usually, I don't disable the tutorial, so once I find and add the crashed ship and hop into its cockpit, the regular ship part of the tutorial begins (finding the Hermetic Seal, which generates a storm, etc.) and the game proceeds from there.

A bit ago, I decided to try starting a save with tutorials disabled as well as not using the Pillar. When you disable the tutorial, you start with the ability to craft a Hermetic Seal and install the Terrain Manipulator and a few other things that you normally get via the tutorial, so it's actually a lot easier. In that save, once I found a ship and played for a while, I noticed some odd things, though.

First, I noticed that there was no weather on any planet I landed on. At first I thought this was luck of the draw because not every planet has storms, until I landed on an extreme planet and there was still no weather, so no Storm Crystals, etc. I also noticed that sentinels weren't generating, even on high/aggressive activity planets. The only time I saw sentinels was at manufacturing facilities or resource depots. So, I'm thinking that something about using the Pillar is what triggers weather/sentinels to start if the tutorial is disabled. If so, that's a shame, because having to do the tutorial after exploring a planet for sometimes real-time days of play sessions to find a ship is kind of a pain.

OR, this all might be just me. I do play with a few environment and terrain generation mods now, but I didn't yet have any mods when I played this particular save, so it wasn't a mod issue. Before I give up on disabling the tutorial in the future, I'm wondering if anyone else here has played this way and can tell me about their experience with this. If it is just me, then I can investigate further to see if I can fix it.

I have performed countless (really if I had to guess I'd say upwards of 90+ new saves) new SURVIVAL games with the Tutorials disabled.
-------------
(I DO NOT USE MODS)
The storm is ONLY trigger during the tutorial (Q: "Is this your opinion?" Me: "It's a FACT"), so no worries there. I don't spend that much time on the starting planet and I have not noticed anything different on any other planets. Meaning I still see storms, extreme weather planets, extreme sentinels, storm crystals, etc once I leave the starting system.

TLDR;
It's you...

I don't play with the tutorial and have both storms and sentinels. Maybe a borjk with your save or a mod.

The question is, though: Did you guys also not use the Radiant Pillar as your starting ship as well as disabling the tutorial? Sure, if I disable tutorials and use the Pillar as intended, I have weather/sentinels once I leave the starting planet. But the one time when I disabled the tutorial AND didn't use the Pillar AND had no mods, I encountered no weather/sentinels.

I'd like to disable the tute AND not use the Pillar and ALSO maybe play survival plus some extra harder settings (just not permadeath because I'm not interested in that) instead of just slightly harder than normal settings, but not if it means no weather/sentinels because then it's not very hard. :) If no one here has also played this way, I'll just have to try it again and see. It's just that finding my ship is sometimes a long process, so it might be a while before I'll know if it will happen again.

I have done many "no starter ship" challenges (with NO tutorials) with all settings to MAX and nothing was different about the planets/weather/sentinels... my first reply still stands

Either PD or Survival, nothing different regarding your questions. everything worked as advertised ;)

i do use many, many mods, and i often do no-starter ship runs on survival/pd with and without the tutorial and have never encountered the problems you have (or more to the point NOT have) with storms or aggessive sentinels.
PS. i also run without mods for the couple of weeks it takes for the game to get stable again after an update ...but again no problems as you've had

Cool, then it was just me and/or something about that particular save or maybe the settings I used that was messed up. Thanks for clarifying. :) Thanks to Guyver8, too!

I will have to try again one of these days and see how it goes.

I don't think the starter ship has anything to do with it because technically, You already own it. Even if you have never touched it, it is attached to your character and it will be in your freighter when you get one. I can't explain the lack of weather though. I have read that the game changes your starter system... as in... any other player who visits it will find that it's different that what you see. Try another star system and see if you get weather there.
