You can shove your diving helmet
I'm done. I am never going to do that from the deep bvIIsh1t again. You have no idea how much that annoys me as somebody that needs to complete everything and collect all the things. I nominate this as the worst quest in gaming history. There is no way that you should have to drive that ridiculous nautalis for over 20 minutes between markers. I know theres SUPPOSED to be land dotted around, but nope.
First marker was "only" 7 mins from nearest land. Not only did I have to swim there, but had to swim back to my ship when the next one said 17 minutes. I thought no way and went to see if I could find land closer. Nope. Next marker was over 20 minutes. Same plan, still no close land. 4 refuels, And it goes on. No way. You can keep your stupid helmet and shove it.
I understand you have put this crapmachine in the game and literally nobody will ever use it so you needed something to use it. But you could have at least made it a bit faster or somehow made sure planets it appears on aren't 99.9% water. Now I'm struggling to find land to get back to to call my ship to get off this nightmare.

Circle slower near the target, there's a good change land will load in considerably closer than 20 minutes away.

Recent new start . Dreams of the deep mission intruded as soon as i made the first jump.
Just odd i thought. I imagined it had a minimum jump timer or some such limiter.
Its supposed to trigger after 40 warps. Might be another trigger?
Pretty sure now it just triggers anytime you come across a system that has a planet with water/oceans. I think that is literally the only trigger, atm.
I don't remember when they changed it, but it's been pretty consistently the first mission I get in almost all of my saves for quite a while now.

Also, ^^^^ THIS.
There are enough land-near-water missions in this game that you'll want to learn this quickly.

has nothing to do with warps, everything to do with base building as it is a quest activated after unlocking the submarine.

once you have ocean exploring unlocked via the submarine, you can install the scanner for the quest and begin the mission.

idk why people think it has to do with warping when you can literally start it in the starter system without warping once.

and for those wondering, you can unlock almost every base object, (sub included,) by just revisiting the base terminal and learning new recipes, you don't actually have to go through with the construction quest where you staff your base which then leads to the blueprints being learned that way, you can honestly learn everything without doing missions, but the missions just make it easier and teach you how the game works is all.

And on top of that about unlocking. I only just discovered you can unlock all the items like atlas keys and minerals etc... from the space anom. Next to the gun guy. I have spent years collecting them by doing the manufacturing plants like a sucker. The amount of times I couldn't find a mirror or something and ended up grinding plants is frustrating. A lot of things aren't told to you here. That isn't a problem, years later and still learning things.
i'm assuming this person doesn't work a 9 to 5 full of menial tasks
FWIW: another ""trick"" i've done with ocean missions is to get to the location and then find some elevated terrain underwater nearby... using my terrain manipulator in build mode, i've added an island poking above the water and then made the out-of-water portion large enough for my ship to land on... at that point, i call my ship over and go about whatever i was doing...

in at least once instance, i did the above trick and dropped a base computer on the self-made island... this can be handy if the ship is especially nice to recover and scrap... even moreso if you do this so it can respawn for you to scrap it numerous times :steamhappy: :steamhappy: :steammocking:

To be fair, I've had that quest give me markers that were several HOURS away. Still, I mean, whenever any quest tells you it's that far away, you're obviously using the wrong mode of transportation.
I actually had the next location switch to a completely different planet in the system on one of my playthroughs. It was weird, because I did the next segment on the next planet and then it switched back to the original planet for the next step. It all worked out in the end but it felt kind of glitchy. At the time, I just thought HG was spicing up that mission.

That's a great idea! Many times I'm staring at a sandbar that is level with the water surface, but my ship refuses to land there :steamsad::steamsalty:

yep!! that's exactly what prompted me to think outside of the box as described above :steamhappy:
you can use ship to go nearest place where you can land and continue with sub from there
That sound painfull :steamsad:

in the first post, the OP reported the nearest place to land the star ship was several hours away by Nautilion... i've seen similar, too... thus i figured to use the exocraft that floats over everything like a hover bike to get there... it is still a long trip but once there, one might help others by building a base with landing pad(s) above water right there or nearby...

The thing is you don't NEED to collect and complete everything. If you don't like it, don't do it.

Yeah :) Fun helmet.

Nice. You can build a base on stilts too or something similar.

...
Complete BS - I have a folder full of "Interceptor" saves (most with NO bases anywhere) where I jumped at least 50 times in each save and they ALL triggered the Deep mission so it 100% can be triggered just off the number of jumps.

So ^^^ this is 100% correct
