The game would have more meaning if I could create a 'family'. Also planets/creatures.
This game just doesn't have enough meaningful exploration, after a while planets are all samey, creatures are all samey and boringly 'nice' and 'safe' (not like real wildlife at all). So that gets boring real fast. In years trying this game on and off, I've never stopped or made a home on a planet- No reason to. It just feels like a giant waste of time. It's hollow.

All the gimmicks like getting a free Freighter, building huge bases, etc, etc do nothing for me.

I WANT to really like this game- But I always stop cos it feels vacuous, pointless.

To make me invested in any of these things I need a GOOD REASON. I think allowing me to have a randomised 'girlfriend'/ 'wife' and maybe even a family of little aliens might go somewhere to making me feel invested in building on a good planet.

I say this cos I play games like Skyrim and Fallout4 and though those games have better, more fluid mechanics that stand by themselves anyway, they allow you to have a girlfriend/boyfriend and be invested in a family (Skyrim). This makes me INVESTED to buy a home and actually 'live' the game. I feel like my time isn;t wasted cos I have a REASON to be there- For my spouse, my kids.

In Fallout4 I have a girlfriend that I actually make an effort for ingame (she can even fall in love with you). So I start helping to build settlements, a place to stay during my adventures.

These I remember fondly and played way longer and more consistently than No man's Sky. Heck even Baldur's Gate 2 which did the same kind of thing!

Bannerlord also does this, to its credit.

Just a suggestion, Hello games.

p.s I expect a lot of belittling and sarcasm, but hopefully HG will get it.

I guess you can roleplay you have a love relationship with your Gek from the construction terminal.

This is not the game for you, and that's okay. Best thing for you to do is move on and don't look back. Hope you find a game that fits your play style.

An Origins 2 update would be welcome. A new batch of critters and flora would be nice.

I disagree that the planets are all samey and there are extreme worlds where you can run into three or more species that will attack you on sight. Some of it comes down to expectations. If you want every planet to be radically different from the next, especially at the scale of a galaxy as large as NMS, you are being unrealistic. There are always differences between planets, but you have to pay attention to the details.

I don't like the idea of a No Man's Sky Sims Social game. I am not sure it is even practical given the type of game it is. Procedural generation has some advantages, but rich and unique social interactions is not one of them.

Sounds like Starfield might be what you are looking for. It uses some minor procedural generation but most of the game content is really going to be hand crafted and allow for a more rich social experience and choices similar to Mass Effect series or Skyrim. (Assuming they don't screw it up like recent offerings)

Sounds like it's time for you to move on. This game is not a love simulator and was never meant to be. Or you could get out of the basement and go find a real girl.

So there should be a luuuurve terminal? Maybe a gek who constantly craves gifts so you have to work your sorry ass off trekking round the galaxy trying to please her entitled ego.*

*I'm not bitter

** Well maybe just a little.

That is why I wish they would let you play all expeditions - they are the main reason why I could enjoy this game. It is the same over and over, but the different start will make it special for me. Especially if the start is cool/immersive like with polaris - starting on your own freighter. And then after finishing it I continue with finding different S-class starships/multitools/freighters and homeplanets for my toons/alts ...
But it could be fun to have family around.

If it was up to me we would be on "Origins 4". But that would mean no developer time spent on multi player, and a lot less on base building so it's probably a good thing it's not up to me.

I'd like a space cat for my freighter. Just like 'Jonesy' in the alien movie. We could return to our freighter, then have to find him perhaps curled up asleep, hidden somewhere in my freighter. Or perhaps for a mini mission save him from unknown aliens that have crept into our freighters.

It's not the Sims but a single freighter cat would be an homage to the Alien movies, bring a sense of life to the freighter and also a wry smile. :D

A simple Quick Silver animated cat curled up would be cool. Better would it purr and greet you. We have an alien jelly fish, a living space being, why not a simple cat?

I love my sentinel buddy, and the point of NMS is: you make your own fun! If you think this game is boring, maybe look in the mirror. This is an oubliette space adventure of your own making! To the Stars!
