planet generation ?
Has anyone found a 2 planet system with a planet with a ring and a small moon ?

The planet distances and placements are very weird and very oddly placed . However i have found a planet with a ring and a correctly placed moon orbiting the ring on the correct horizontal plane like elite dangerous witch was very realistic positioning

elite dangerous EPIC realism position . Im looking for just realism placement . My goal is too get 2 moons orbiting gas giant on different sides . Please share realism placements

Imagine a blue sun shining through the the ring like elite dangerous too . Share findings

I'll double check, but I bet they are the K/B/O class systems if this is some kind of regular thing people are seeing that 2 planets always = a ringed planet.
Out of all the systems I've visited in all of my saves - I've only ever found one "cloudy" planet that kind of looks like a gas giant because it has lots of storms, and even when it isn't storming, it is super cloudy.
So far as I know, there are no gas giants in NMS technically speaking.
Plenty of dual moon planets though. I'll see what I can find in my history.
nice , I geuss i mean a gas giant with a ring in elite dangerous is the equivalent of a large planet with ring in NMS . Primarily to explain im looking for ring planets with moons in the correct orbital position like in screen shot ,

IN O P

To find a ring planet with 2 moons would be great and even with a sun shining through the ring

Here's one of my moons I have a base on. I flew to a good spot you can see the main planet's rings on. If you keep going to the far side, you could of course line up with the rings even more, but I like seeing through the rings.

I took a kind of planar shot of both moons along the ring. The other moon is just a 'lifeless' moon, but it's got good resources.

So yeah, you can find these no problem.

Perfect thanks . these correctly placed planets around a ring planet is so much better that a couple of huge oddly placed planets above and below a huge ring planet

I remember reading a few years ago that 6 planetary bodies (moons or planets) per system was the max. Has this changed? I've never seen more than 6 in 1 system in 4000+ hours.

I do not think it has changed.

As far as I'm aware, the limit is still 6 total planetary bodies (including moons), so the maximum number of moons in a system is 4 because no planet can have more than 2 moons. i.e. a 4-moon system would be 2 planets + 4 moons = 6 total.

I'm fairly certain if they increased that, it would have been 'big news' considering it would cause new planets to appear in previously discovered systems.

You bring up a good point though, as that means my recollection of the 4-moon system mentioned earlier in the thread is a bit off. It had to be just 2 planets with 2 moons each.
Makes me want to go back through discoveries and find it to confirm, but that would also require remembering which save I was playing at the time....no easy task considering I switch between 5 active saves fairly often.

My dream is to find a Massive ring planet with 5 planets neatly dotted around the ring

this is not a realistic space sim please stop trying to correlate it to one

the positioning of planets can be correctly placed as shown , Also i only looks for planets that are most barren with atmosphere's . Is that not ok here ?

ED isn't really a space sim, either. So the comparison is justified. Space is space.

If you want a space sim, Star Citizen is the closest to it (not counting KSP, which has more to do with raw/real physics).

I found this system that has 2 moons orbitting a ringed planet in my discoveries on one of my saves. Unfortunately, it's not a system where I visited the space station and I'm not even in that galaxy on the save any longer.

My guess is that it is relatively close to the Expedition 9 system based on the discovery date.

And here's one with 2 planets and 3 total moons:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2955450835

And another, the one I mentioned earlier in the thread, with 2 planets and FOUR moons

Discovery is a little confused on that one....I didn't discover it 10 years ago....it was like...a month ago.

How can planet be above or below another planet if there is no up and down in space?

lol . i call above or below in refrence to the ring planet once making the ring planet look level

Just my own personal opinion, but UP is whichever direction the top of my head is pointing, so it is still entirely valid in outerspace. It is also totally mutable in outer space. :)

Oh, with one exception, if I'm laying down then UP is whichever direction the top of my bed (or other surface I'm laying on) is facing. :)

Except if you are next to someone floating opposite of you with their feet where your head is, they would say you are pointing down. Like I said there is no up and down in space.
