As for Settlements, they are all already 'out there', like all planetary points of interest. The planetary chart just helps you locate them.
I guess I've got some searching to do :). Took me about a week to find the System/Planet I wanted to make home... then it took 3 or 4 days to find the New Place I wanted... I wonder how long it will take me this time; but this is REALLY the one I want... Honest :) ROFL!!!
As always... Thanx for keeping me Straight Mate :)
I have everything, pretty much, set to Standard... Maybe it is time I bumped it up a bit. I still want a more Hazardous Planet, but this may also help to find it.
Good Looking Out Mate.... Thanx!!!
This is true. The "Tropical" planet name is in the Marsh biome table as well as the Lush biome. So you can have a planet called "Tropical" which is Marsh, not Lush.
The 1 to 3 Veritcal Dots next to the Image of the Owner Race represents how well that system is doing Economically. A) Is this correct? B) Why would I care? (Not to sound like a Jerk... but seriously; is this something I should consider in selecting a Home Base?). (A Rich System makes it easier to make money... a Poor System gives me a Goal to Strengthen their Economy; if that can be done?!?)
I also now know how to use the various Scanners; specifically the one that displays; (based on color); the primary Economy of a System (Green:Trading, Purple:Adv. Mats., Etc.). Is there an Advantage/DisAdvantage to these Economies? For instance: I focus my Agriculture on the necessary items to produce 'Liquid Explosives'... for Sale. Would it be to my advantage to Use or Avoid specific systems?
Regarding Conflict: Conflict with Who? When the Conflict Level is High... are we talking Sentinel Activity or Pirate Activity? When it's really high... are talking Base Attacks... or just more Space Attacks?!?
I know, for the most part, this is just Picky stuff, that probably wouldn't make that much of a difference; but for me... it's the Immersion. If Money (Units) actually made a difference; where would I get the Most Bang for My Buck!!! Besides... who knows, maybe one day they will include OverHead, and we'll have to start paying our employees... then every $Unit will Count :).
Advanced Thanx for Any/All Info, Tips, Etc. :)
The odds of S-class, for example, are:
Outlaw system: 5%
High Wealth System: 2%
Medium Wealth System: 1%
Low Wealth System: 0%
It also matters if you are trading goods between systems. But, there are so many other ways to make Units faster than doing that, that part of it really only matters if trading is something you just enjoy doing.
Economy type determines what goods a system produces (sells cheaply) and which ones it consumes (buys for a good price). So it's main importance is if you are doing the whole trading thing mentioned above.
Conflict level determines hostility level in the system, both in space and on the ground. Pirates and pirate attacks, basically. You will find that pirates attack planetary locations (or even just you as you walk about) when you are out exploring quite frequently in a high conflict system, for example, but it happens super rarely in a low conflict system.
It has no bearing on sentinel activity that I'm aware. Aggressive (extreme) sentinel planets are determined independent of that setting.
And on the Trading... 'Yes, Please'. At the moment I'm doing 'Light Trading'... mostly to gain capital for upgrading Ship and Weapon; but Eventually, I want to make it a Major Thing. And now, with a Much better understanding of the whole Economy thing, I may go all out (eventually) as a Travelling Merchant :)... again... Eventually :).
But again... Major Thanx.... Very Helpful!!!
It took me Forever, but I finally found the Planet I wanted; Toxic...with Massives Storms. I used the Settlement map in space, with the Planet I wanted 2nd closest... and the Settlement was found on the closest. I then tried again (second map, not ReLoaded Game), this time with the Planet I wanted Closest... the Settlement was found on the same planet as before... Tried again (Third Map); again with the Planet I wanted 2nd Closest... and again, the Settlement was found on the same planet. Tried a fourth time; this time while landed on the planet that I wanted; but once more the same planet as the other times has the settlement; also note: after the second time I paid attention to the settlement (because I had to go there before I could try again), and each time it's a Different Settlement on the Planet. Also note; the planet the Settlements keep turning up on is a Paradise Planet.
Am I just having bad luck... or does this mean that the Toxic Planet I want just doesn't have a Settlement on it?!?
I've been to, at least, 20 different Gek Systems, and have checked, at least, 50 different planets; and I finally find the perfect one... and NO Settlement!!! Aaaarrgghhhh!!!!
I found a Paradise Planet with Invisible Jade Winds. Based on ( https://nms.miraheze.org/wiki/Rats_97/X7 ) ...Extreme Storms occur Frequent. I've been sitting on the planet for a Day (a Planet day), the only thing that occurred is the Temp fell to -6 degrees at night... not even cold enough for my filter to kick in.
So is the Link info Wrong... or do I just need to have more Patience? While a Pleasure Planet may not be my Dream Planet... Frequent Extreme Storms would be :).
That planet is a Mega Exotic[nomanssky.fandom.com], not your run-of-the-mill paradise planet. Hence the anomalous weather.
It would not be classified as Paradise if the weather had any hazardous storms. So if you are right about the Paradise aspect, then no amount of patience will make a difference on the weather.
I found something slightly different, but still a planet with "storms" with no environmental damage. Everything gets windy like it does for a storm, and the warning comes, but no damage. Its a paradise planet with activated indium on it as well.
Since then I haven't found one single planet like it and have searched 100s of systems since then.
This screenshot shows the address (galaxy 239)

and this kind of shows it during a "storm"
