AI Smart NPC
I think the next big update that will be perfect for NMS will be an AI Smart NPC.
It should not be too much of a headache for the developers but can be a huge leap in creating a "real" universe.
If you guys are unaware of "AI Smart NPC", just google it or look for it on youtube.
Think of the endless quests the NPC's can give you, the connection between NPC's themselves, the knowledge the NPC's can have on their home planet (using the AI to know what it has created), and more.
It looks like this is the perfect game for this new technology.

Hope the developers will find it intriguing enough to think of it as an option.

You should put this in New Feature Suggestions. I think it's a great idea

Interesting to see someone wanting the ATLAS to end up being real.

we could then rename it 'No Man's Skynet'

Unfortunately, it appears to be only available on the Unreal Engine. HG uses a proprietary Engine to run their game so unlikely to happen unless it is easy to reverse engineer and they see a way to sell a lot more units using the tech.
SkyNet is coming!

I thought we already had endless quests....

IDK... My suit is supposed to be AI already and I hardly listen to it. I might listen to it more if it got a personality lift. There's nothing like hearing a voice in your head asking if you REALLY think something will end well before you commit and reminding you how stupid your decision was after you commit by laughing loudly...

Some call that God, though... Funny guy, right there. :steamhappy:

IMO that's not a good suggestion... the AI NPC would be privileged to a lot of what you are doing when you are doing it. Additionally, they can be programmed/trained towards specific beliefs that might go against your beliefs... which if strong enough against those beliefs, NMS could lose a customer.

Imagine the giant pita it could become if it suddenly were offended by a question you asked, thereby it would not assist you in any way.

Therefore, I vote no, please.
