Are Nitrogen, Sulphurine, and Radon ever sold in a system?
Setting up farms is boring, so I'm wondering if there's an alternative. I haven't found a system selling any of these gasses yet, though.

So not in the actual system?

Not sure what you mean by "in the actual system". I do not recall seeing gas in any trade terminal and there is no star types, economy type, it dominant race that causes it to spawn.

Frigate missions frequently return with gas products, but us aksi very random.

Don't rely on traders for gases. The way i used to get gases was to jump in a system, find a planet with what i wanted, drop some collectors (they are still classified as mobile tech?), and go on about my business, hop there once in a while to collect and refuel, until i'm ready to move on.
Farming gases from plants and stuff is really inefficient also.

So traders do have gasses? Yes or no?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Yes, I meant the trade terminal. Thank you for finally giving me a straightforward answer.

Yes they are sold. In space you might get lucky and see one or the other at a space station terminal but that is rare. However landing NPC pilots DO carry the gases. You may have to wait around a while for them to pass through and the best place and price is at a planetary Trading Post. Scan for them from space with the upgraded scanner. Frigate missions sometimes return gases.

Better still is to farm one gas and refine it into the other. Even better, if you buy one stack of one gas but need the other refine it. Also this is where farming (or buying trading) Oxygen makes great sense. If you refine any gas into another using oxygen, then you get out an equal amount of gas. Remember you can refine gas on the move using your exosuit if you have the upgrade fitted. Keep a stack of each gas in your Cargo slots and you will never go short.

If you do not want to set up a farm of your own then simply visit another player's farm. There are probably more Nitrogen farms so use them to refine the other gases. If you do not want to set up a small sized farm then just drop the atmosphere harvester and you do not need to find a gas hot spot.

Easiest way to get Radon/Sulphurine is through atmosphere harvesters depends on the planet type. After you place it down you can see what gas it will harvest before you fuel it with carbon.

Carbon is the only thing never sold by NPCs, Gases sometimes appear as last product in the list of 6 products at NPCs in freighters or trading posts, but don't rely on this, you are gambling and will spend huge time for nothing.
But you get gases in small quantities by first scanning flora before shooting them, it's the 'secondary' substance marked in your visor at the end of the flora description.
