Survey Device Bug - Industrial Surveying

Hi guys, i have the industrial surveying quest. I checked off 'Learn the surveying device' and 'learn an industrial unit'. The game now tells me to install the survey device. Here is the problem: I can't install it. When i want to install it in the correct slot it wont show up. What should i do?

how are you trying to install it? when it is in your inventory, hover over it and the popup window will tell you the key to use to install it with... you cannot just drag it over and drop it like you move material from one slot to another...

No i just never got it. also dont have the option to create one.

i goofed... sorry...

you should have gotten the blueprint for the survey device... to install it, hover over an empty slot in your multitool and press the button to install a blueprint... on my xbox controller this is the A face button... for kbd/mouse it is the left mouse button... then select the survey device blueprint... you'll need 3x magnetic resonators, 1x quantum computer, and 2x wiring looms to complete the install...

Out of curiosity, did this start with a "Survey a planet" mission?

I've got the same problem. Did you ever figure this out? I've got the Industrial Surveying mission. I show "Learn the Survey Device" and "Learn an Industrial Unit" checked off.

The next step is "Install the Survey Device," but when I try to install it, I don't have that option. So what happened?

Do I just need to go back to the Anomaly and try to buy the blueprint again? (I assume that's where I got it, but I don't really remember.)

Click on a multitool slot, check the 'all options' box in the menu that pops up, if you have the prereqs you should be able to create it in a multitool slot

Thanks, but that's what I've been doing. In the "Industrial Surveying" mission, it shows that I have the device. But it doesn't show that when I actually try to install it.

The mission itself indicates that I have the prereqs, so that all I have to do is "Install the Survey Device," but I can't do that last step. It doesn't even show up as an option in the multitool slots.

Edit: OK, I figured out the problem. The mission showed that I had the blueprint, but I didn't. I went back to the Anomaly and bought it, and it works now. Thanks!

I’m in the same boat. Got the extractor. But the actual survey analysts upgrade is not in any blueprints at for the multi tool and I can’t find anywhere that sells the damn things…

Anyone find a fix to this issue ? Currently have the same issue in the Adrift Expedition and don't wanna have to start over.

I don't believe there is a mission related to the hot spot survey mod in the Expedition. Check your log or post a screen shot.

There aren't any NPCs on the Anomaly in the Adrift Expedition. Once you finish the expedition you'll have no problems getting the blueprint for the survey device.
