verify the integrity of your game files in steam
if you have any mods installed, remove them until you can get updated versions
The mods I updated before I restarted the game or removed if no update available. I'm not using any weird or merged mods either. I try to keep a tight reign on mods, just to prevent to many update hassles.
I've also disabled the mods but nothing regarding the drops etc changed.
Thanks for the input all the same, I think I'll have to try a fresh game and see how it goes, if it works in a new save it has to be something wonky in the current 700hr save :(
REMOVE ALL MODS - start a NEW save and see what happens on Corrupt Sentinel planets.
1 - wait for a couple week after the new patch before trying to load your legacy save (give them time to fix the most obvious bugs from the new patch first)
2 - verify the game files with steam
3 - go into your mod folder and restore the "disableallmods" text file, then go into your "mods" folder that's in the same directory and delete everything inside....
(It's easy to forget you had some mods after a long time and they'll be most likely outdated if not harmfull).
4 - go watch some videos on the current meta.... your old maxed stuff has probably been nerfed if it was the "best" set-up a few patches ago.... so you're gonna have to figure out what's the new best set-up you gonna have to farm for.....
5 - go grab some coordinates for the new MT/starships/frigates/younameit.... you gonna pass your first days back in NMS portaling to replace your old junk with the new fancy ones...
6 - Phone your friends & family you're gonna miss them but something came up and you wont be in touch for the next few weeks....
Started a new save out of curiosity and yeah there's something very wrong with that save.
I should be mad but I'm not, most games in my library are early access or dev builds, so though on the whole I have very little hassle, I am prepared for that hassle if/when it comes. ( all is not lost either, I still have the save and a save editor, so when the time is right i can shift ships etc between saves)
Plus after 700 hrs on the same save it was getting a bit meh, with little to do except wander the universe.
So thanks for the input all. Starting again is more fun than I thought it'd be :)
I've actually seen "steel" as the label on some of the breakable containers on the abandoned freighters a few times. Might be some sort of placeholder name as I'm running a vanilla game with no mods at all.
