Utopia Speeder v Sentinel Interceptor

I like having starships for different tasks. In my gameplay those tasks break down like this:
1) Fighter for combat (Superslots used for weapon/shields)
2) Explorer for exploration (Superslots used for hyperdrive)
3) Planet puddle jumper: Utopia Speeder or Interceptor?

I use the Speeder during my initial search for the interceptor and I really like its planetary speed and nimbleness. The Speeder has the best maneuvering and boost by far, but the interceptor can hover and the interceptors have mind blowing variety and look awesome.

I can't decide! :steamfacepalm:

if its just for puddle jumping I would go with whatever has the highest maneuverability.

I really hope HG migrates the ability to hover to all ships. Folks have been asking for this for a long time. I always suspected that HG did not allow ships to hover because you could eliminate an entire ground sentinel battle from the safety of your ship. But they then added the "fix" that if you are in your ship and shoot a ground sentinel, it triggers an air sentinel attack, and you can no longer land during the battle. Good solution, now give us hover on all ships! 8-)

I was hoping for a special launch tech module that enabled hover and any ship could do it with that module. Its a great feature to be able to pause skimming the planet and just stop and look at something while remaining onboard.

I agree. Hovering has many uses, and it just makes flying in ships near the planet surface feel more natural. I'm loving it in cave flying. I'm working on an Interceptor build for caves now. It's not the smallest bug/beetle model, but it's definitely a smaller model ship (it has to have something in the looks department!). I'm going to maximize maneuverability and launch thrusters and have decent shields for bumps against the walls.

You answered my OP! The interceptor will always make the best caver ship. The Queen of the Cave Fliers has spoken :steamhappy:

Rock on in the caves!
Show us what you build as the ultimate planet surface/cave crawler ship!

I've been taking out ground sentinels from the air for quite some time. You just have to make low slow passes.

There's also an option to allow landing during battle, which I always enable. That seems like a silly limitation to me.

Really? In the settings? I never knew that!

IIRC, you have to either re-key the auto-target or disable it.

I don't remember what it is, but I do remember that it's not very obvious.
