Is it possible to go through a planet?
When the game was buggier and there were holes in the ground, I fell through the cracks with my exocraft. But at a certain point the game just kept throwing me back to a certain level(not back to the ground).
Now, when a game detects it, instead of falling forever you're teleported to the surface.
Has anybody found it out? Googling gave nothing. Is it possible to keep falling forever, or even if the game didn't teleport you to the surface you'd stop at the center of the planet instead of emerging from the other side? Questions questions questions.

no... you cannot go through a planet... there is a hard layer that you cannot even dig through... if you do fall below a planet's surface and this hard layer, it is due to a glitch and it may be possible to die... if you find yourself in such a situation, hopefully you have enough jetpack to fly back up to the surface...

FWIW: if you can repeat this glitch, you might report it to the zendesk with your save and possibly a video link showing it so HG can fix it... https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360013870118-I-have-an-issue-to-report-in-NMS

I'm talking about going below that level, it's possible at times. I wonder what would happen if the game didn't teleport you back to the surface.

I think it always transports you back to the surface. If you dig a tunnel then use the terrain restorer while you're still inside, it can cause a glitch that sends you falling through space for a brief moment before you're thrown back to the tunnel entrance, but that's the only time I've experienced anything like this.

Just as well, really. Unless you want to fall forever?

that's the glitch i spoke of... if the game didn't teleport you back to the surface, you would continue to fall, like in space, until you died... the teleporting has been put in as a parachute to save you if/when you run into the glitch... the glitch should not even happen in the first place but it does for some reason...

I saw this thread and got to thinking... I got to the center of a planet, but stopped falling at that point.

died? but there is oxygen in there(according to the game) you aren't dying when falling like that.

wow thanks! this is exactly what I needed! would you say inside it looks like it has... water?
I know Hello Games never meant for a player to get that far in, but it does look like base water texture inside. Or was it just green smog?

I know double planets can have a similar effect while walking across their atmospheres

yes, but it still pushes back to the surface, can't fall for long.

It looked like water with the dust motes passing by as I fell, but I was falling too fast for water, I think (70u/sec) . There was a false bottom that I passed through very early on that had a refracted light pattern on it like you'd see on the bottom of a pool, and at max depth, I seemed to be bobbing up and down a couple of units rather energetically- too energetically for regular water though. Also at max depth, there was a camera distortion effect like water streaming off of a lens as it emerges from water. When I tried to use the terrain flattening tool, it would stick in place and stretch as long as I held LMB. So, there was a mix of properties and some very odd physics too.
