Sentinel broken robots/drones - how to use?

Sorry if asked before, but since the Sentinel update, I find all these broken robot/drone thingies lying around (there is one at every camp where you can get those Sentinel multitools and coordinates to crashed Sentinel ships)

So, what's the deal with these things? How should/can I use them?
Many times I have given them those 71 Atlantideum. I then get so.e sort of long code with 0's and 1's and then I can only select "leave" and that's it.

Am I missing something here?

Ah ok, so apart from occasional resources, I just found one with 10 inverted mirrors on it, they are of no use (yet), right?


So there's really no reason to "feed" them with the Atlantideum

Yea not really, only reason to check em is for inverted mirror stacks. easiest way to get them.

They are kind of like the broken machines, just something to loot for random stuff.

There's no point in feeding them once you know the message that they spell out. But they are definitely worth looting (imo) and just leaving without feeding them.

I always feed them because sometimes they send back something useful. 71 atlantideum is not much. Shoot a couple of crystals to make up for it.

I never get anything when feeding them that I noticed. What kind of stuff do you get after feeding them?

Last few times it was runaway mold. Sometimes is a loot item. Hold [E] and something else pops out. I'll pay closer attention next time. Its possible a delayed message fooled me. Something from one of the wheel-barrels displayed after I feed the robot?

That's stuff you can loot from it without feeding it. I think you're just reading the message delayed.

They all send you a message. If you put these messages in order, you will get a short story :D Thats why they say "the first, the second etc.."
