Suddenly changed from DX11 to Vulkan API
My game was running until yesterday with DX11. DX11 api is marked upon every single screenshots I made with Afterburner.
This morning, while playing as usual, I have noticed the game is now using Vulkan. I did not do any changes.
I am so astonished. Did it happen to anyone ?
How come it had changed such in a sudden ?

If I am correct, the switch to Vulkan came with the Beyond update, back in 2019. Afterburner may be giving you information not related to NMS.

@captain : I have many screenshots realized with Afterburner and the monitoring info all display DX11. I checked some I did few days ago and they all show DX11 under voltage, fans and stuff.

@Guyver : Yes I have uploaded my gfx drivers recently. But a few days ago already...

Has Afterburner itself been updated?

Afterburner just got its first update in years.

No Man's Sky itself had switched to Vulkan years ago.

You are correct. They switched from open gl to Vulkan which caused much wailing and gnashing of teeth from players using pre-2012 videos cards. As far as I know NMS never used direct X, I have no idea what OP is seeing on his system.

MSI Afterburner is a utility that lets you monitor and change attributes of your GPU or CPU. Settings like clock speeds, voltages, and power.

But how come you were seeing that the game was running in DirectX and then changed to Vulkan? If it never used DirectX, how come it showed that for you ?

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion."
