Sentinel Pillars on Aggressive Sentinel Planets
How do they work?

I'm about to head to my first aggressive sentinel planet in this save.
I have a sentinel boundary map and was planning to deactivate them to explore in peace.

On low and high sentinel worlds, I've simply walked up to the pillar and pushed the off button. I would assume that if you have aggro, this won't work.
Hence, is it possible to land, rush the pillar, and push the off button on an aggressive world?

It's definitely possible to land and shut down the Sentinels, even if you come under fire. No diff. :)

The sentinels around the pillar don't aggro on site.

Nice. The annoying thing about exploring on a hostile world is having to melee boost away whenever an observation drone pops up.

Even on aggressive sentinel worlds?

Yes, some of us have already done this on aggressive worlds and those sentinels around the pillar dont care unless you shoot something.

In general, any "site" with sentinels is its own little world, and the sentinels are just protecting that site with no other connection to the sentinels that protect the planet. However if you bother them, they will raise the general sentinel alarm to which all sentinels respond.

Yep, the only time you will get aggro-on-site at a pillar, even on an aggressive sentinel planet is if a "wandering drone" just happens to be there along with the normal guards. Hundreds and hundreds of hours playing, I've only had that happen once (and the drone wasn't really all that close to the pillar, I just parked too far away).

This. Sentinels spawn by specific structures don't follow the aggressive rules.

I've never understood why we can shut the pillar down once the sentinels are agroed. Before agro, sure. But once you piss them off, I say you are all in. Of course you can jump in and out of your ship and then hit restore, or burrow down deep and hide out till agro drops, but ya. . .

Also keep in mind, any sentinel that is spawned (the ones that usually drop items) will drop goodies once you trigger the shutdown. I usually wait for a walker to spawn, then shut them down.
