How to get rid of sentinels?
The 10 seconds I get between waves makes it difficult to run or hide from sentinels, so how do you deal with them?

I have tried outrunning them, I have tried tunneling into the ground and hiding. It seems like no matter what I do, once you attack one they will just constantly re-spawn and know where you are.

Are there any other options outside leaving the galaxy?

They have line-of-sight, so running in a direction that puts a hill between you and them helps get away more quickly. But you are faster than they are, so any direction works.

If there's a building nearby, just going inside the building is enough, no need to run away at all.

Once you break line of sight, or get inside a building, a countdown timer should start after which you lose the threat levels. This timer takes you down 1 threat level at a time, so if you are going to run away your best option is to do it immeditately without engaging at all. Otherwise you push your threat level higher which results in needing to wait longer.

Another option is to get in your ship and fly away, but to fly close to the planet surface until AFTER the sentinel interceptors spawn. This is so that they spawn inside the planet's atmosphere, which will slow them down.
Once they have spawned, leave atmosphere as quickly as you can. You should be able to engage your pulse drive to get away shortly after leaving atmosphere.

Yet another option is to use a companion (pet). Sentinels will not attack you when you are riding a pet/companion. So summon one, and ride it away from them.

If in space, summoning the anomaly and landing inside, or landing inside the space station or your freighter, also will shake them.

And last option (that I can think of), if you save/reload you will no longer have the sentinel alert level and all the sentinels that were chasing you will be gone.

I appreciate it. I run but they just follow me. 1400u away from my ship, underground, sentinels 400u away from me and I can't summon my ship because I am "in combat".

I ended up having to run my way back to the ship, dug a tunnel underground, fought the exosuits carefully until I bought the precious 10 seconds to get back to my ship.

Then I could take off but before you can go to the bathroom, sentinels had ships in the air, at my location. So I fought those ships off and the second I had a breather I was able to warp to another solar system.

Props to the amazing sentinel technology and their ability to get re-enforcements to my exact location, on a planet or in space, within 10 seconds. It feels unfair but I made it.

But wow... am I missing something? They seem way too persistent.

kill em all.... until you disable them its the only way to get some peace when you have a high sentinel activity world. there are tactics for building a sentinel hunting base as they cant shoot you inside a building.

try digging youself under the ground. Or melee+jetpack fly away, combined with stealth generator. Works for me if I don't feel like fighting (which is rare since I have a really powerful shields and scatter-blast them real quick

Make a save at the first opportunity and reload, this will force them to reset. They bug out sometimes and will follow you indefinitely.

When digging a tunnel don't go straight. Dig 5-10 meters down then make a right turn. If you can see the opening the sentinels can see you.

If that's a pet they will not attack you while you are riding it.

A single punch-jump loses their sight. Then run in a wide circles, ending up behind them. You can also enter any building or archway.

A cloaking device lasts around 8 secuónds during which the sentinels cannot detect or scan you. The timer will continue to go down. This can give you some added timetolet the alert time out or even avoid an alert by hiding from the initially alerted Sentinel. It may scan you but fail to detect anything and then simply turn back to observation mode.

The ai and combat in this is game stupid, i don't know if it still works or not but there was a time where i am being chased by sentinels on land and those land robot sentinels spawned in, the way to get rid of them is by me going into those building with trader npc inside and just stay there. For some reason, the sentinels are completely blind while you and/or them are inside in the building.

easy. upgun fire rate to max with shards and "s" mods. have your exo robot maxed out too. have materials to repair the robot in your backpack. pick your ground. change heights i e top of buildings, use the conceal for right click for loading. they can't find you. move after you slaughter a wave....high to low, north to south. they are stupid. that's what i day when i get bored. 200 shards in no time. look for aggressive sentinel planets. then have fun!!
unrealdemand Mar 20, 2023 @ 10:33am
don't be afraid to trade out shards. you want 20 15 rate reload. don't be afraid to trade out S mods until you get the best. visit 'the killing fields'. fun times

also i only use the boltcaster or whatever its called...zips right through them.

Sentinels always spawn in the direction you're looking. Running away as soon as you kill the last one in a wave does no good because the next wave will spawn in front of you. Wait until the next wave spawns then turn around and run or jetpack away.

Hehehehe, they damn well have done!!

But its a game fault as to why. Not a given.

The times I have gone into buildings with a Walker after me and a Quad only to see the walker laser hitting me as its foot comes through the wall. and the Quad head just visible giving me the good news.

But, yer, generally your safe in there.

I just kill them all these days and wonder around a planet Sentinel free.

The S button is great, but I whisper it some times and use added speed to get the pesky killers.
On planets I have ended up stuck between trees and mountains before using the S button and had to start the game again and lost the mission. So, yes, a great feature if used well.

Its as if the OP read your first sentence, then stopped right there :steamfacepalm:
