As for your grave being in the air, that just kinda sucks. Best thing you can do in those scenarios is get the resources to make sure it doesn't happen again, then grab it.
Never go in space if they try to get you on the ground ,,, than you make it even worse, bc now the sentinel ships chasing you ...
It was annoying as hell at times, but that is the point of the more recent expeditions. They twist the normal game play in some screwy way so if you forget to think things through, you pay big time.
Not nearly as annoying as the "Ground Hog Day" expedition where you had to restart every time you died and there were no easy ways to bump up your offense and defense.
Having played them all, this one was not the worst IMO. The Exp. where we were stuck on one planet for about 99% of the time was the worst. Ground Hog Day may have been the next and this last one was somewhere in the middle of the pack. Might rate it higher if it had been a bit longer. It was very short, even if you died a few times along the way.
I liked some of the concepts, even though they tripped me up, but it was not a joy ride to the finish as a lot of the early expeditions were.
They actually gave you an easy out for this one. The milestone before it gave you a map for a sentinel pillar. I just shut them off
my post was expedition 9 releated ,, which is btw the topic
It was my first time on Xbox and I wasn't thinking right. I was letting my emotions control me instead of logically thinking.
Learned some valuable lessons and thank you for responding to me. o7
Every expedition focuses on some aspect of the game. This one was thinking ahead, and of course being cautious (looking at you volcano). Those that yolo'd along had some problems. Those that pretended they were playing a survival game had a smoother run.
I decided to land as close to the coords as I could get, only to immediately get attacked by Sentinels. I went into my ship and tried to escape to space for a breather. Nope, got attacked by ships in space instead.
Killed the attacking ships. Now flying with wrecked shields. Got a grace period of what felt like about 3 seconds before I was assailed by twice as many ships. Guess I'll die? ALT-F4
Not. Fun.
And yeah, feel free to tell me what I should have done, but my philosophy on this is that when a game becomes this obtuse, it's the fault of the designer, not the player.
That explains my difficulty finding the place. It was also in extremely rough terrain with very steep cliffs everywhere. It was actually difficult even finding a somewhat decent place to land. As you say, I only got the "general area" indicator.
I also think it should be communicated clearer that you need to do a visor scan. Not that I had any time to do such a thing before I was attacked by Sentinels.
The combination of extreme terrain, hostile Sentinels everywhere, an apparent waypoint bug and unclear instructions makes for what appears to be a whole bundle of badly designed features. I've decided it's probably not worth trying to continue playing this scenario, which is a shame considering the time I already put into it.
Don't give up, the reward for this one is totally worth it.
I reloaded my save, which started me in space, but without being attacked by Sentinel ships. Went back towards the marker on the planet and this time it showed the correct location. After landing and scanning down the final destination I went back for my ship in order to land it as close to the base as possible. On the way I was attacked by Sentinels, which converted to a sentinel ship attack after I boarded my ship.
I shot down the first attacking ship. 3 more ships immediately appeared, and then for some reason disengaged. If they hadn't, I doubt I'd been able to kill them before they killed me.
In my opinion, this method of directing the player to the mission objective is janky. The way the Sentinels aggro and keep respawning (except when they for some reason don't), also seems janky. But, at least I've managed to get past this hurdle. Albeit, it was not enjoyable. Thank you for responding to my post, I probably would have given it a miss if you didn't.
