If that's not the issue, then the current patch may or may not have broken it.
An alternate method is to simply be in the same space station. Eventually server states will merge and the system will be converted into a passive multiplayer session. At that point, one can invite the other by interacting with them.
We've NEVER had to use the Multiplayer (on the right); just "Play Game" on the left when starting the game.
We've always been able to invite each other from the Network menu now it just says "Show Profile"
We "kinda" got it working by simply using the Steam Overlay, but only *I* can invite her into game. She, when using the Steam Overlay doesn't show "invite to game" on hers. We've done this COUNTLESS of times. She has 1000 hours, I have nearly 2000. So I know we're both old as dirt, but I don't think either of us has had a stroke. Hahahah.
We're Steam Friends, I show up on her list, she shows up on mine.
We tested with Golf 2K21, Premium Bowling, et al and it doesn't seem to be a Steam issue. (?)
Yeah. we checked the build version of NMS, we also checked the version of Steam. All the same.
Did just test it ...
In Space or on Ground :
Nearby List ---> Empty
View NMS Friends List ---> Left side : Only Show Steam Profile
---------------------------->Right Side : Remove NMS Friend
In Anomaly :
Nearby List ----> Playerlist where every player has up to 3 option : Add...Block...Invite
We've never had to go to the Anomoly or a Space Station to start a Coop session.
Always have Network turned off and "other players can still join your session..."
The way it worked was I would send the invite, the other player chooses which "save" to start from, or if already in game, I believe they got a pop up or used the Steam Overlay.
@Cptn ❄m0d3r4t0r❄ - just the Steam overlay. Nothing else running on either PC. I did have my privacy settings a little too strict (probably changed them a week ago, and changed them back for testing - that actually got us 70% back to normal).
I'll try to get an OBS recording and post it somewhere.
And it works if I create a session.. choose my save..as soons as this is loaded others (depending on my Network Settings) can join... that was always the case and is the case right now..
The other issue we discovered is that separately, if we're in the same system in SP, before we can join on one anothers' session, one of us has to dismiss their capital ship.
In the past, it wasn't absolutely required (the other players' capital ship would just be invisible), but it's a hard NO now.
I can however join one of my other friends without any issues and so can he with me. We've tried meeting up at the same place going via the nexus and a settlement that someones made so we're exactly at the same spot, yet it still will not work. Is this an issue on our side or is Steam/NMS just being a bit "iffy" for the moment?
PS: We did recently get the game aswell and we only have a few hours into the game. Idk if you need to progress the story line past a certain point but we feel a bit lost, any input would be helpful thank you :)
First I would not advise to do the tutorial in Multiplayer .. that would most the time screw up the quest..
The fact that you can play in Multiplayer with other players means your site is ok.
Did you both exchange your Friends Code?
Are you both on PC/Steam ?
Does your friend have a certain Antivir Software installed, which may have a firewall setting which may be the reason?
Inbound rules in win defender should have TCP and UDP Protol
Is ProcessLasso installed?
What country are you both ?
Is in theyre Router UPnP enabled ?
1: Yes we exchanged friends code
2: Yes we are both on PC/Steam (she plays on controller via PC though)
3: Yes she is using win defender however TCP and UDP protocol is not enabled yet. (not really what it is)
4: ProcessLasso is not installed
5: She is currently in South Africa, I am in Sweden (so it's quite a considerable distance)
6: Uncertain regarding UPnP will ask to ask.
Hope that narrows it down. I'll come back tomorrow to see if theres a reply but it's rather late so it'll have to do for now till tomorrow for answers.
