Where to get Exosuit expansion modules
As per title.

I havent played in 9 months and just came back, didn't know about the inventory rework, i kinda like it. I found freighter, starship and multitool modules but not for exosuit and using google didn't give me a real answer either, it seems .. complicated.

They are, rarely, rewarded by missions from either the nexus or space station. Far more common, however, is Exosuit upgrade planetary charts, which will point you to a drop pod.

You can increase your Exosuit slots by using those charts as well, you just have to actually go to the drop pod and 'repair' it (with sodium nitrate, 1 carbon nanotube and 1 antimatter housing). Once repaired, it lets you unllock one exosuit slot.
In addition to getting them as mission rewards, I think you can just buy those charts from the cartographer on the stations. I'm not sure about that though, as I've never needed to buy anyway.

You also can upgrade your exosuit by spending Units at the exosuit terminal in every single space station. No token needed, just deposit funds. You may do this one time at each space station you visit AND one time on the anomaly in each system. So if you have units to spare, that's also an option.

Space Station missions give them occasionally. Otherwise, I'd have to crack open the data files to confirm any other drop sources.

thats what i read somewhere, but i've been going from station to station to buy the single expansion upgrade and then look at mission board and the only reward that is similar is exosuit upgrade chart.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

It took me 1/2 year to figure out that you can also upgrade at the anomaly :steamfacepalm:

@Magnitude:
If you have already access to the anomaly I would suggest you make a loop over all your space stations in your telepoerter list, egt into your ship & out of the station, call in the anomaly and get to Selene, the one that sells the blueprints for exosuites - behint Selene you find the same upgrade terminal in in space station - amd the cost of each upgrade get higher as with the one on space station.

To not loose track of the list of space station you should start with the last station in the list & remeber that name, and on every step of your loop use that last item in the list again till you see the first one again. This way you don't loose track.

i did that to unlock all slots before the inventory change, i'm doing it again now but also checking mission boards to see if they reward a module. i only need one module, then i'll duplicate it as many as i need :).

So as you are only into that module I would suggest to spend some time at the Nexus cube in the anomaly and ask there for it - most of the time nice guys will give you one or more.

I tried too, but i not much response, there were some very nice people giving me random stuff to sell because they think im a fresh player though. I guess not many people have them, they must be quite rare since i've seen someone selling them on ebay !

For the expansion tokens specifically, I see something like 15 entries in the data, all associated with Space Station and Anomaly mission generation. But, as Jag said, there are a number of other ways to upgrade. The level-best method is hybrid (assuming you're not in an abandoned or uncharted system):
  1. Whenever you enter a new system, go to the Space Station and grab the upgrade there. ALWAYS choose the cheaper of the two categories, in case you get a token or map so you're spending that on the more expensive of the two.
  2. Check the mission counter for any missions that give a token, be it exosuit or multitool.
    • There are three general types of missions: Universal missions, like kill sentinels/quads/creatures/predators, or feed creatures, that can be stacked and completed anywhere; Target missions, like monstrosity kills, acquires, repairs, or depot raids, that target an in-system location; Travel missions, like photography, scans, and some deliveries, that take you out of system. Always stack universals regardless of reward, and grab at least one travel, so as to help guide you along to new systems.
  3. Go to the Anomaly and grab the upgrade there.
  4. Check the Nexus for any storage token missions.
    • Anomaly missions often take you out of your current system. Remember this and grab the upgrade in the new system, then when you return check the Anomaly for the second upgrade. Make sure your return setting is "home" so you can continue any Space Station mission chain you've given yourself afterwards.
  5. If you have an Exosuit Map or a nav data to buy one, run it. Generally only run one per system to avoid the chance of being sent back to an already used location.
  6. Move to the next system.
  7. GOTO 1
This general guideline will keep you progressing on the exosuit across multiple vectors, as well as generally exploring without feeling unnecessarily repetitive.

As hr wrote - he is into that module, needs only one and will dublicate it.

Ebay? LOL, that's ridiculous.

But yes, they are relatively rare. In the save I'm currently playing, which was 'new' for the Utopia expedition, I have just recently finished upgrading my exosuit and I went with all avenues available to expand it.

I checked the station of every system I visited for missions that reward those tokens (as well as the Nexus missions regularly). I pretty much check the station missions on every visit, in any save.

Anywho, long story short, all those upgrades and checking all those mission rewards, I got a total of TWO of the exosuit upgrade tokens. A whole, whopping two.

He got his modules :-D
