Anyone using the auto-scan feature added in Fractal?
I know it's an "accessibility" option, added for people who may have a disability which makes having to use two buttons at once to scan difficult. But, hey, who doesn't like elevators even when they can walk up stairs just fine?

I tried out the auto-scan feature and, personally, wasn't a fan. It locked on to things way too quickly and turned visor useage into a real herky-jerky experience for me, so I turned it back off. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great they added it. More accessibility features should be in far more games, imo.

Anywho, I'm just curious if anyone else tried it out and left it on?

(Mostly I just made this thread to see a discussion about one of the new fractal features that I haven't seen talked about.

I was not aware of it so glad you brought it up. I will try it but I doubt I would like it.

Having played since the start, I kind of like the funky way the ship and MT scanner systems work. Both are unreliable, but just reliable enough to get things done. I think the game would lose some interest for me if either was really hyper accurate.

I already fly low and slow for most of my POI needs. Never use the maps unless it is required by a mission.

Yeah, hated it. Lacking the target lock oh the hold version made it a pain in the ass.

I looked at it, but just the description was enough for me. I actually enjoy the scanning process as it works now.

Remember back in the first year of the game when it could be near impossible to get a scan. You actually had to keep following the fauna until the scan process was done. I had to shoot my share of birds just so I can get them to stand still long enough to achieve the scan.

Now it is pretty much a piece of cake. I could see how that auto scan feature could be helpful for some folks...maybe me one day.

Yeah, I've used it. It's a great time (and finger) saver.

However, there are times it annoys me by trying to scan stuff I'm not ready to scan yet and want to do later. During those times I switch it back to manual. But for everything else, auto-scan is great.

I tried it but it wasn't useful because it stopped scanning as soon as something was out of view. So it made scanning things like birds or other animals more difficult or, in some cases, even impossible.
If they fix that issue and make it work similarly, to the regular hold-mode scan, then I think it would be awesome.
