Best way I've found to get to one (outside of just hopping systems & checking them, is to take out a sentinel dreadnaught in space. That will give you an AI item that you can click which will mark the nearest system with the right type of planet. Taking the dreadnaught... Focus on it and not it's escort ships (they keep spawning) and stay to 1 side of it so you only have to clear 1 side of guns that shoot you.
Just fly out and shoot the station. That'll start waves of sentinel fighters which then will spawn the big ship. Make sure to have enough stuff to keep your shields up.
I'm still not sure what it wants me to do next. I fought another five waves of corrupt sentinels, and it just pointed me toward another (crappier) ship. Nothing dropped anything rare or useful. I still can't find a multitool or any sentinel tech, and when I tried to move a sentinel cannon package between the crappy one and the good one, it rejects it. But then what's the point, when I can seemingly just craft regular ship parts to use in it?
The combat was different and all, but so far, the rewards don't seem worth it. Just a lot of unnecessary junk. And I swear they reverted the tech breaking back to ridiculous levels. I probably went through 20 wiring looms without even losing any actual health (just shields).
Use one in your inventory to get one of the encampments markers to appear. If there's not one on that planet, it will tell you to open the galaxy map in space and go to the marked system.
I got killed like 5 of them and gave up because they didn't seem to give me anything useful (and they're surrounded by enemies). I'll have to try again tomorrow I guess.
No. Not every system has a station.
Breaking them will give you Inverted Mirrors to repair sentinel ships, but also can drop an echo locator that points you to a camp to unlock a sentinel weapon+jetpack.
Nope, Uncharted systems do not have space stations. Abandoned systems do though. You may not have noticed that there is a difference between the two if you aren't one to spend a lot of time going into uncharted systems.
I've got 28 inverted mirrors and not a single echo locator...
Most systems with a green, blue or red star do not have stations.
Annoyingly enough, my first multi-tool was the worst rank possible, and the second echo locator just pointed to the exact same campsite.
They don't? Then how would I not have noticed? I have every achievement in the game!
