Sentinals are impossible
I cannot escape from the Sentinals. I hid in a cave and they followed me. I killed them and the next wave spawned in the cave. How are you supposed to survive the sentinals these days? I am returning to the game from a two year pause and it is unplayable. I ran for over an hour on my next game, I play perma-death, and the drones were so far away that even the normal music had returned. But the combat would not end. I stopped and waited and it took the drones nearly twenty minutes to catch up. I killed them and ran. I got as far away as I could from where the last drone died and the mech spawned on top of me. Litterally.
This game used to be fun. What happened while I was away?

I'm sorry to hear this from you. What I know is that after the recent update, if you destroy the Sentinel Carrier, they will disengage. I understand that it requires much more effort, especially if you're playing on perma-death difficulty.

It is possible for sentinels detection to bug sometimes, when that happens they never lose track of you.
If this happens either reload the game or just enter the anomaly/space station/freighter to reset it.

Based upon all the posts of concern over sentinel battles, I suspect there will be some re-tuning, probably not the sentinel freighter battle, though.

That happens, but honestly I kinda like it. It's probably a glitch, where their "searching" timer doesn't start. But it's a more realistic behavior, instead of "I'm just gonna stand behind that rock for 10 seconds, and then I'm not a criminal anymore".

it could be bug indeed, to not be able run away. i was able drop the tail so far every time with them when was not in mood to take a fight.
and yes, caves are not safe havens anymore. but game`s buildings are(hint).

the corrupted sentinels are interesting to fight on the ground, the healing one drone offers another drone is just slightly too powerful right at the moment. it could do with 5%-10% loss in healing effectiveness. it will still provided the needed healing, but it makes the experience a little less of a chore, especially with those who fight with boltcasters and full upgrades and finding themselves making little impact as it currently stands where they could have a little bit more control over the circumstance.

i'm not sure how the sentinels in space fight yet though.

Regular sentinels deploy, three loads of heavy drones in the first waves, on the third wave quads show up. the fourth wave have mechs, the fifth wave adds in a walker. i find comparison in fights the corrupted sentinel fight on the group a little more of a chore to go through.

Save/reload. I can't image sentinels are still looking for you after save/reload.

this is the only way to get out of the "eternal combat" bug... i make sure i always have a save beacon before i start fighting corrupt sentinels... if this bug rears its head, i drop the beacon, save, and reload that restore point... done... ugly workaround but hey ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Perma-death. It's on you. They introduced perma-death because players complained the game was too easy. Now it isn't, so adjust accordingly. There have been a lot of changes in the last two years. It isn't the same game.

Sort of not quite on topic, but anyone else getting this issue. The new corrupted sentinals, the small crab ones when destroyed will drop their combat supplies which then immediately sink into the ground and disappear, preventing my using them for shield regeneration.

Additionally my minotaur will not attack them at all and half the time ignores the larger ones as well. This has made the corrupted battles more annoying than fun, especially with the way the little guys do their constant ram-attack move thus dropping my shields that much more with no recharge recourse after dropping the little creeps.

My hope is these are bugs to be fixed because I really like the sentinal battles overall.

Tech toward cloaking device for multi-tool; that breaks the "discovered" cycle for me.

corrupted sentinels are easy enough to escape from when the game says they are hunting. just run away from them for a few seconds and you are beyond their range. in fact their mechanics for detection are not that great anyway.

regular sentinels will require a lot more effort to escape.

I agree that a ten second timer was dumb. No AI would think like that, especially aftr repeated activations. But for the timer never to start and have them spawn on top of the player is worse than an easy timer. At least the easy timer was not broken.

sounds like a skill issue. /jk

Flip side. I found a world where sentinels will not attack me. I can walk around slaughtering them and nothing ...

Another world on the same system they were slightly interested, I managed to get an interceptor to chase me. First one gave up, so went back, killed some more on the ground, made more effort, killed the interceptor than came after me but the wanted level never got beyond 1 and if I wasn't quick they gave up before I could turn and kill them.
