Changes since 4.0.... lost and confused
//My star seed and remembrance seem to have been nuked.... I had them installed, I guess
I'm screwed or something on those?//

[Ok, I see them as gray modules in this giant pile, so okie doke that fixes those things.]

What else has been nuked? Kinda wondering if I should even bother at this point.

Is there maybe a good site that short lists stumbling blocks like this?
I'm very familiar with the NMS Resource website.
(patch notes... a years worth doesnt sound like that would help me)

Thanks for the help.

3+3 is no longer a thing. Tech can no longer be installed in inventory. If your Star Seed and Remembrance were installed in inventory, they may have been converted to a stored module like any other tech in inventory that you can reinstall in your technology panel. Otherwise, you'll have to rebuild them.

Ah that explains a bunch of stuff. Ok ty. Fortunately I don't seem to have to rebuild them as they are little gray installable mods.

Some other info:
Supercharge slots are now a thing. Installing tech in an SC slot multiplies its effects. Exosuit and exocraft get 3, "classed" things get 1 per class level, maxing at 4 for S-class.

All ships and the exosuit can have max 60 tech slots, lowered for classes under S.

Most ships and exosuit get 120 max inventory.

Multitools now max out at a ridiculous 60 slots.

You can now have 12 ships, 18 pets, and I believe 9 multitools.

O_O
wuaaaauuuuauuuuuuuuuUuuuu *head explodes*

If I already have S quality stuff, but only 3 SC slots, is it because they don't have the max slots yet? (meaning that when I upgrade the slots they "will gain" the 4th?)

Multi-tool limit is 6, just FYI.

Yes, supercharge slots can be 'hidden' in slots that you have yet to unlock. So if something is S-class and doesn't have 4, it just means you need to unlock more slots until you find the missing one(s)

Thanks. Wasn't 100% on that and not at my PC ATM.

Yah, I only remember it because I had to exchange rather than claim a sentinel multi-tool on one of my saves just a few hours ago, and I only had 6 multi-tools.

I almost never have even that many, so wouldn't have remembered the limit myself if it hadn't just come up.

Only time I've filled up is when documenting the Twitch drops for my guide. Which reminds me, I still need to work on the companions :squirtooh:

yep... it was 6 ships, 6 pets, and 3 MTs back in v2, i think... the one when the original Expedition 2 was released... that's when i got NMS and started playing...

i think it was v3 that added 3 more ships (9), 12 more pets (18), and 3 more MTs (6)... this was also when 3+3 was eliminated and the slots were increased... super slots were added to counter the loss of 3+3 and were also applied to other things that didn't previously have 3+3 capability...

v4 added 3 ships (12) and 3 more MTs (9)... probably because of the new Sentinel ships and MTs they added...

For supercharge slots: is it better to use upgrade in those, or core modules? Like should I put my hyperdrive in there, or one of the S-class upgrades I have?

In my experience, it depends. In some cases, the addon boost gives you a better advantage. In others, it seems like boosting the equipment has the most positive effect. I can't remember right now, but certain equipment seems to fare better with the boost and other equipment it not much of a change (of course it is always difficult to tell with the suit since it does not provide stats).

It also depends to some degree how far along you are. Early game I noted that boosting my health or shield was a big plus for storms and such. But at the time, I had almost no hazard protection or shield addons.

For most tech, putting your best upgrades in the supercharge slots is most effective. Hyperdrive falls into this category.

For some tech, however, the main module gives you more bang for your buck. Weapons fall into this category. ALL weapons, both starship and multi-tool, get the most boost from having the weapon itself in the supercharge slots.

Obviously, there's more than one supercharge slot though, so if you want to give a weapon an even better boost, supercharge the weapon and it's upgrades.

Also, worth noting that the supercharge bonus is better than adjacency bonuses, so if you have to make the choice between adjacency or supercharge, go for the supercharge.

On multi-tools, for example, I have each multi-tool set up for just one function. The one I scan with has all of the scanner upgrades in supercharge slots, the one I use for mining has all the mining beam upgrades in supercharge slots, and the one I use for combat has a weapon plus all of it's upgrades in supercharge slots. Even if the supercharge slots are not next to each other, that set up is better than going for the adjacency bonuses.
