Another method would be to piss off sentinels and fight them in space up to wave 5 to summon a sentinel freighter. Kill the freighter and you will get a dreadnought AI that when used will lead you to a ship.
Do you have to repeat this to get another one?
Another way, is to find a dissonant system, scan the planets. ironically, I've been getting corrupted planets on those that don't have sentinel warnings on them, usually it will be one of the 2 or 3 planets without sentinel warnings. Look for the weird pink spiked crystal creatures, these have chance to drop echo locators, which can reveal a camp, by which you can get a jetpack thing, multitool and a location of a sentinel ship.
More of a reward the second way....

Of course it's also possible that any kind of locator will send you back to the same location as a ship you've already found. I don't know how to avoid that, so if you are doing anything more time consuming then going to that computer, I'd recommend limiting your search to one per planet to be safe.
