Ship interiors? 🚀
With the new ship class, will we now see ship interiors, like they have in SC,
(I dont own SC, but they have made a ton of money, just from this one point alone.
Because people love being able have the immersion of a ships interior.

And the trailer of StarField, also shows you walking through your ship quite a few times. And it looks amazing.

Its a massive part to have ship interiors, in pretty much every SCI-FI movie, and show..
Star wars, Falcon. Ghost. Shuttles. (mid size ships.
Mandalorian, Small ship.
Dark Matter, Larger.
Killjoys, Mid size.
Star Trek, Small to large.
FIrefly, Mid size.
and on and on.
The Razor Crest isn't a lot bigger than the new shipin NMS.
And that new ship alone could have a bunk, a small galley, and maybe a cargo hold.
At least an o/off ramp.

Here's hoping they bring the ability to actually walk into your ship, and through into the cockpit.

Even if you cant put small crafting stations, or furniture in there.
Just the massive immersion of seeing / "living" maybe lying on your bunk inside your ships. etc.

Here's hoping. 🤞

Lying on a bunk would be a welcome change in any case! I agree with you that there are some aspects of immersion that could be enhanced, heres hoping that HG hears us!

I think it would be more clutter than it worth IMO. NMS does not need to be just like other games otherwise it isn't unique.
Would love to see freighter fight against sentinel capital all i see is my own freighter shooting at me or my allies

Unless there's some reason other than just 'my immersion' to have more ship interior to walk about in, I hope they never do it. It's a waste of their time and resources unless there is a gameplay element.

The key difference between SC and NMS is that SC doesn't care about actually getting a functional, finished game to their players. THey only care about what can make them more money, which means they devote resources to the type of "ooo, wow" feature that gets attention, and therefore money. That doesn't help with longevity or actually having gameplay though, but that's not their priority.

As someone who already paid for NMS, I prefer if they keep their focus where it has been.

Besides, most of the ships in NMS are just 'cockpit' ships. There is no interior to walk about in in the first place.

lool NMS has everything . but ship interiors would be great . Us space gamers are never satisfied . HG IS JUST THE BEST FOR EVOLVING THERE GAME

For those who said its not worth it.

SC. I agree, its just a joke. BUT RSI have made a ridiculous amount of money just off "ships, and interiors.

But forgetting SC.

If HG add the ability to interact with the inside in some way.
Whether sitting, lying. chilling,
Single player, or with a friend.
Or even some minor crafting.
maybe a gun emplacement, turret, <-again for MP.
Or even storage in the ship, but that you can walk up to.
There is so much they could do with ship interiors.

Go have a look at ANY of the StarField trailers, they place a large emphasis on showing you walking through your space ship.

It gives the feeling of actually being there on your own flying, voyaging, exploring "home away from home."
Even if its only a small to mid size ship.

Just appearing inside your cockpit, misses so much of watching the stairs, ramp, whatever open, and you walking climbing inside.
And seeing where you "live" exist for hours days, while travelling through space.

But for many, just the immersion alone, would bring even more depth.

This would require a new ship type something in-between starships and frigates. Most if what you would do with these ships is already done with freighter bases.

It could be done, but it would be a year or more worth of work.

You can also walk around inside your frigates if you want...but nobody bothers (do they?). And having to climb in and out of a cockpit every few minutes would soon become a chore. I can just imagine all the complaints...:steamfacepalm:

I think that this would be awesome, I would love this feature and I think that it would be cool if you could customize it and add things like a co pilot seat so you can fly your friends.

Oh, SC. Now I know what that is. Forgot about it, since it's not coming out in my lifetime - can't wait for the rubes to give them a few trillion, though. LOL

It would be really nice to have the ability to explore starship interiors, but the size of the ships here are quite small. I doubt they're really all that furnished inside. Feels like that's what freighters are for.

It could be done- with a ton of work and the request implies some reason to hang out in a ship and of course the ability to save in that ship. If they just added an interior, there is just no game play reason to be there. As already noted, you can walk around your freighter and frigates but I doubt anyone does (other then once).

It sounds like a feature looking for a reason or assumed reasons that would be developed to make it have any reason to exist.

No matter how they went at it, it would actually involve a lot of complications. Do they resize every landing pad and locations (and break every base landing pad in the game) to allow them to land in stations, anomaly, etc.

Are they space only- so you have to get back in another ship if you want to land somewhere...sounds tedious to me. Edit: Also sounds exactly like your freighter.

The whole save thing and keeping that process safe and reliable seems problematic when players still occasionally report falling through freighters.

I guess I am not seeing a lot of upside without massive work to make it have a reason to exist.

Concisely put.

Indeed I don't hate the idea, but the bang for buck factor seems low.

FFS peeps. This is why we have freighters to walk around in and decorate. Isn't that enough? You're asking to walk around and decorate the interior space of less than frigate sized ships.

It really wouldn't.

The ghost in Star wars rebels, is quite small.
The Mantis in Star Wars the fallen order again is quite small. with 2 bed rooms, an engine. small lounge, an cockpit.
The Razor crest is even smaller.

And again. mentioning SC. Not for the "game" it is, or rather is not.
But they have many many ships the same size as some of the larger "star ships." you already pilot in NMS, not the massive frigates.
And some in SC, like the Aurora literally just have a bunk. But they still have an interior, and not just "instant cockpit."

That new ship shown on the Interceptor trailer, is easily big enough to have an interior.
Timestamped.
https://youtu.be/7Xyz2wICyuM?t=28

And some of the "flyable " random ships already in game, are even bigger, "bulky wise" and are like small buses, and they are already in game.

Just an entry ramp, maybe a small galley, bunk, etc.
This "again" would be immensely more satisfying than just appearing in the cockpit.

But yes if Hello introduced a slightly larger "explorer class" ship. when we could put furniture from the bases, or small crafting.
This is in Subnautica on the Cyclops.
And even have (as said above) room for, and items turret, etc, a MP experience.
Even though I play solo, it would be a blast for both Sp, and MP.

And as said with StarField, which will be MASSIVE when launched later this year.
They make a huge deal about. "you can build you own ship, including interior.
And that sent people wild.
Because that "immersion factor of actually having a ship (not a cap ship) but the ship you pilot.
That is not just an exterior, and a cockpit.... And the rest you have to imagination.

Ive already gone through a very few of the tonnage of movies shows, and games that have this as a big part of the fun / immersion, and" just cool to exist factor."

Hers really hoping NMS consider this. Its a great game, but this element, is sadly missing.

If they dont, it will just be wait for SF I guess.
