nope. It even says in the options "Permadeath: Save is deleted upon death. Can only be chosen at the start of a new game, and cannot be turned off later"
OP, when I have a chance, I'll dig into the save JSON and see if there's an easy switch to flip with the editor.
Edit to add: The safest route is just to make a new game with exactly the settings you want, then copy over the entire "DifficultyState" section of the save file from the new one over to your Permadeath save (ovewriting what's already there). Also change the version number to "4654".
You can then delete that new game, obvi.
It really would help to actually read the post, so people don't have to waste time on you.
I don't see "Difficulty state" in anything in the Json. It was the firs thing I looked for after the version number.

Which he already explained earlier in the thread.
It's not the only setting like that. You also cannot change the stack size setting in the 'easier' (i.e. higher stack size) direction.
