I found an Xbox Controller fix

[Capt-Reynolds]

1. Load up the game

2. Click "Options"

3. Click "Controls"

4. Click "Remap Controls"

5. Click "Configure Gamepad via Steam"

6. Directly under "Current Layout" is your current configuration

7. Click the arrow to the right of the selected layout and it will give you two options: The official layout for Xbox One and the official layout for Xbox 360.

8. Select the official layout for Xbox 360 and click "Apply Changes" and this should fix the issue.


I use an Xbox One controller and this fixed the controller issue for me. I hope it works for you.

A fix that worked for me:

Right click on game title > Properties > Controller > Enable Steam Input fixed it for me.

I tried that too at first, but it didn't work for me. Good to know though. Maybe it'll help other people :)

I fixed my xbox 1 controller. This is a bit long:
>GO into game and SELECT the Menu button (the one with three horizontal lines)
>Select OPTIONS
>Select5 Controls
>Under 'General SELECT 'Remap Controls' to see the View Controls screen
>On bottom left SELECT 'Configure Gamepad via Steam' to see NMS Controller settings
>SELECT blue 'View Layout' button
>On this screen you will see a number of options at the top like: MENU, On Foot etc.
>Select 'On Foot'
>On bottom left of the screen SELECT 'Left JoyStick' to see the Joystick options screen
>I set the RIGHT Joystick options to: Look/Zoom/Run
>I set the LEFT Joystick to: Move/Scan
>Select the BACK button on the bottom right
>Now on the main controller screen SELECT Flight Controls at the top of the screen
>SELECT the A,B,X,Y box in the lower right. I had to set the A button to 'Fire Weapon' as this was not set and I could not fire the weapon in the game.

As you go through the menus, check that the functions you expect for the various controls are set the way you want. Pay attention to the selected MENU options so you don't get messed up. Hopefully, the normal configuration file load will be fixed.

On my game I switched it back to the Xbox One configuration, closed the game, and then started over again. I was able to select Official Xbox 360 Configuration and apply changes and it still works just fine for me. Maybe try restarting Steam.

I had to reboot the pc. Tested this with a regular xbox one controller and the elite 2.0 - both worked. Thanks!
