Controller Stopped Working

My controller no longer works with the game after today's update. Any idea how to fix? All was fine this morning before the update.

Seems like many have the same problem. Tried restarting steam and tried it through big picture mode and neither worked for me. Not sure what else to try

Ever since steam changed big picture mode to this crappy new steam deck looking like interface I don't even know where to look for the controller options. new steam interface SUCKS

Try going into the Controller Config setting, you'll see it when you click on NMS in your library. Make sure the setting is set to the controller you use. My PS% controller wasn't working and it's good now.

Having same issue with my XBox controller. Controller configuration shows controller is selected, but when game starts the controller won't work.

You were right, somehow the XBox 360 Xbox 1 controllers and the PS 4 and PS 5 controllers got mixed up and you have to put them back manually, than it works.

Controller only sort of works for me. I can move my character and interact with things when in the world view, but opening any menus or the inventory causes the controller to stop working. But ONLY the movement of the reticile. I can press buttons to get out of the inventory/menu (B button works), I can select an item when my reticile is on it (I have to use my mouse to move it), but using the left stick doesn't move it at all.

Here's a workaround that worked for me in the past, and has worked this time as well: In the Steam controller settings for NMS, select the current layout (which should be Official Layout.) On the next menu, you can select the "new" layout; this should be the "Official Layout for No Man's Sky". Just select the specific layout you're already using for your current controller, and then "Apply Layout".

Having similar issues on Steam Deck, except using the controller results in the game crashing. I filed a big report with HG. I tried the above suggestion to change the layout and the controller actually responded for a moment before the game crashed again.

Some buttons like left click to sprint and A to fire (XBox Series X controller) while in your ship were no longer mapped. I had to manually re-map them in Steam. But the cursor also no longer works and that's annoying because you need that for inventory and such.

sad that the update broke my controller support as well. hopfully they fix it soon

Update have changed steam controller utility (pity, I loved old interface) and messed with some of my keybindings.
