Cant move the cursor in menu anymore with xbox controller? [FIXED, SOLUTION INSIDE]

I fixed this by re-selecting the controller scheme and then restarting the game (hell, restarting steam entirely, because that controller thing always screws with my steam)

How do you even get to those options with this new busted steam deck layout. Big picture mode used to have a "manage" option for games but now I don't see anything like that

fyi: if you're on deck, using any of the official steam deck configs will crash the game the moment you move a stick or press a button. the xbox one config does work as reported by others.

I found the option (wow, steam really made its new menu CRAP), and i put it on xbox 1 layout (which is what i'm using) and whenever in menus the cursor still keeps moving to the right on its own, any suggestions?

I had crashing and control issues on Steam Deck also. I went to the developer menu (Steam Deck Home Screen, highlight No Man's Sky, press the three line button and the developer menu is there) deleted the controller layout and deleted proton files. I also switched to the latest ProtonGE while I was at it. It fixed the issues I was having.

I just reset my controller setting by picking the official configuration again and now everything works again as before.

So weird as I was already using that prior to this update, but whatever, it works now. DS4 user.

I had this problem. I use a PS4 controller on PC. Someone posted a fix somewhere that basically instructs you to go to the controller set up and manually pick your controller again. I got there from in game, it pulled up the Steam window for the controller, it showed that the PS4 controller layout was already the default for me. The post said to pick it again anyway... so I did... and my cursor started working again. It COULD be that the update borked the default settings and you have to go in and reselect it again.

Hope this helps some of you. It worked for me.

i have tried the solution above and it is STILL not working on my end. thanks HG for a broken update. my analog sticks work IN GAME to move the camera around and move. but NOT for a cursor, im forced to use mouse. i have already tried the posted solution that supposedly works, it does not for me.

(strangely enough reverifying files worked for me.....)
