No solar sail on a solar sail starship? Are you kidding me?
I mean the latest expedition. They give you a solar sail starship without actually having the solar sail technology in it. Is this a way for Sean Murray to troll the players or something? Makes zero sense why would they do this. If they wanted to give us a starship without solar sails could have given any other type.

Yeah it sucks. Some people have stated that their solar ship had its sail tho, so it could not even be consistent.

Anyway, craft 5 starship launch fuel and you can easily complete the expedition

yeah, I already bought a heckton of Uranium and Pyrite, installed 3-S class Pulse Engine upgrades to at least partially compensate for not having a vesper sail.

You're handed multiple interceptors throughout the expedition. Why would you care about the starter ship? One of the first things I did was scrap it. I think traded down for an exotic, which I prefer.

i still have my solar ship in Exp10... it does deploy sails when i'm not in the atmosphere but it does not have the Vesper Sail tech...

1. I don't wanna go through a hassle of getting an interceptor, it takes time. I'd spend less time upgrading my starter starship
2. I don't like interceptors because recharging their systems requires endless grind. I can't just buy a heckton of fuel for one on a space station or build mineral extractors which would provide me with endless fuel like with standard starships. Nope, I have to repeat the same grind on corrupted planets again and again, collecting those unique resourses. Which may be fun for the first couple hours, but will eventually become a chore. I play games to be entertained, not the repeat the same, generic, time-consuming task over and over again.

3. This one is minor but I HATE how they completely removed the original, old Sentinel interceptor from the game completely. Because that's the ship I wanted to fly in, and just when they allow us to actually control Sentinel starships they cut that so-much-desired model from the game. Such decisions by the developers honestly drive me nuts.

2: Hah, what you call an "endless grind" is my game play loop... I like nothing more than to shoot those sharded purple bastards right in the face!

3: I have an all white one and I found a red and orange one...

I mean I know it's not exact but close enough for me :nmsatlas:

Everyone has their preferences. I don't like the interceptors either, but it only takes a few minutes to acquire one, which you can then trade for whatever you want, which is what I did.

I don't know if they removed the vesper sail from all of the solar sail ships in the game. If not, then it should be just another few minutes to pop over to a pirate system and trade for a better one.

I always finish the expeditions with the starter ship...

The interceptors have a base hyperdrive range of over 600 LY. No real grind required as you already should have a ton of atlantideum. Also aside from the launcher, it takes standard fuel. They give you the auto refueler anyway, so it's a win win. Plus, you can scrap/sell extra ships for $40 million each! :)

Intercepters Unite!

I mean.... Intercepters rock! They're the Billy's of bad asses.

I think I prefer the Solar and Exotic, but the Interceptor is pretty cool and the only ship that can hover.

wait, the standard autorefueler works with an Interceptor? I didn't know that.
Also, Pulse engine is either powered by either Tritium or Radiant shards, and Tritium is one of the few elements in the game that can't be gathered automatically or in large amounts. Nor it's sold on space stations or from traders in large amounts, which means that getting it and refueling the pulse engine in an interceptor is just as much of a grind as with others.
Either way, still annoying. I remember the times when I tried to gather as much tritium as I could for my Freighter expeditions. It was a bore.
