Where to sell or scrap a multitool?

I collected a few after finishing the guards and don't know what to do with them.

Your only option is to trade them for better multi-tools.

Best you can do is trade it.

What you can do is max out a few MT's for a specific purpose, ie. mining, scanning etc, and swap them around as appropriate.

And one for holding when you do Galaxy jumps. It gets trashed so having a tool just for that is a good idea.

There is a way to get rid of them I believe. One of the monolith interactions I had recently required me to "give up my multi-tool". I didn't do it to see if that actually works.

Since the save editor basically ♥♥♥♥♥ the bed, at least for me whenever I try and muck around with multi-tools... my new MO is to only have TWO... er, well now THREE:
1: Crashed Freighters, just beam and terrain
2: Main Sentinel with maxed out Pulse Splitter & extra goodies
3: Crap "C" for jumping galaxies (thanks @taniwhat)

Fairly sure it's because it offers you a replacement just like a Vy'keen encounter
