For example, if you take them on a monster slaying (egg hunt) mission that can be ordered in Anomaly and activate the AI, they are very useful as a decoy.
So indeed basically useless
Have you cleared the settlement quest to upgrade it?
It has weapons installed and not broken?
I basically insta kill and can't die, it's not that useful in my case.
I only engage it when I know I am about to fight. Normally, it is like every other companion, it just gets in the way and becomes annoying. The only time it shines is with those corrupted sentinels/repair bots. I can focus on the repair bots and it takes out the heavy hitters.
It is more that i think why make something and then halfa-s-s it. The tooltip even literally says it mines for you.
But i guess that is kinda normal with hello games, most things are half done just wondered why the weird choice.
But in Survival mode with all difficulty maxed, it definitely comes in handy in Sentinel ground fights, until it gets too damaged to move/fire. It does not fight any "normal" corrupted sentinels though, but will fight Dissonant corrupted ones.
Otherwise, I just leave the AI disabled to prevent Mr Stompy smashing things I was trying to gather and I just summon it when I need easy hazard protection, particularly useful for Storm Crystal farming since you can gather without getting out of the exocraft into the storm.
And when I don't really want a full Sentinel battle and I'm hiding in a spider hole, like I often do at Ancient Ruins, Laylaps and the Minotaur will usually score me a few Sentinel cannisters anyway.
