Does "add to collection" mean that your current multi tool gets permanently removed?

I've just purchased some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ multitool for free because it was supposed to be added into my collection. However, now this thing is in my hands and I don't know how to get rid of it. Did I just accidentally gave away my old amazing upgraded multitool for free in exchange for ♥♥♥♥? How do I switch back to my old good multitool?

X menu on M/KB scroll over and you will find a multitool selection deal. It always makes anything you add to your collection prime.

You can switch between exiting multitools (and ships) using the Quick Menu. Your old tool is probably still there.

You can have up to 6 tools. Until then you can "add" a tool. Once you have 6 then you can only "swap" which will permanently remove your currently equipped tool. Be mindful of that, some guy rage quit NMS when that happened to him.

If you purchased it for free you probably exchanged it stead of "adding to collection" unless it was given to to you by a monolith or cowardly NPC.

As stated above if you "added to collection" you can switch with the x menu.

You guys were right! I had to open the small menu with X and change to my old multitool. Thank you very much!
