The Sentinel ship is overpowered and break progression!
So I did the quest in my new save and got the ship. The quest is too easy and the ship too strong!

I've got the mission while I'm still trying to get units (without cheesy tactics) to buy a class B and a frigate. My actual ship worth 8 millions (6 on trades), while the sentinel worth 92 being an A class!

It's a jump so abrupt that I'm leaving it landed and went back to my old little ship. When I finally reach the point where I can have an A class, I will fly it.

Basing the power of a ship off Unit value is a fallacy. The only "strength" that ship reasonably has early on is storage space and/or tech slots, which you still have to fill.

But good on you for setting personal limits.

It wont seems so bad on your 232nd run and you do everything you can to cut the drudgery of early game down as much as possible. For my echoes run I already had an A class freighter and a fully upgraded S class starship before the interceptor even popped. Sadly units will likely always be a trivial aspect of NMS.

It's also OP in that radiant shards will basically fully refuel any component. Its hyperdrive range is the longest out of the gate. Finding one of these ships eliminates most of the grind. Same goes for the weapons; if you find one, their trade-in value makes basically any other multitool instantly affordable.

I had the same experience when I first played after the sentinel ships were released. It doesn't matter what the ship is if you can trade it for pretty much any ship in the game.

For some of us it will be. Some of us like the early game and get bored with the drudgery after that.

I thought they were going to nerf the sentinel ship values, but I guess not. Need a few hundred million to trade in that starter ship and get you on your feet? Just pop into a dissonant system, and you never even have to ever be concerned about units.

It gets even better if you have some storage augs spare. The value of Sentinels was nerfed by making sure they had gaps in the cargo rows. Spend maybe 6 SA's and you can get the values back up to insane. Admitted SA's are expensive to get but it's still a fast way to get a lot of units.

The ship stats are better alone just because it is an A class, but let's consider the slots. My actual C class (which I mentioned, worth 6 millions on trades) have 17/23, the Sentinel have something like 25/32 (or more, I don't remember now) with 3 powered slots, against zero of mine.

As I said, it is a jump so abrupt it would ruin the progression if I kept flying her.

It is a 92 millions units ship!

Idk what run I am in, but if I chose a Survival Permadeath (with max difficulty) experience, I want a Survival Permadeath with max difficulty experience, but the game insist in try to make things easier, like when it tries to give me a 20 million units freighter because I destroyed 5 pirates with shields made of soap bubble (ofc I just get the payiment instead).

Well yeah you can potentially run into free S class everything. Or get them intentionally with coordinates

The interceptors i found "naturally" were all C class so you were a bit lucky

You can totally keep using a C class shuttle if that's what you fancy.

Eh... sell it and then poop away the creds on stuff to discard?

Or just stow it and forget about it?

Complaining bitterly about needing to make self imposed rules in a sandbox game where the your job is making your own self imposed rules makes me scratch my head. You must be new here in NMS because that is the core of the game, especially for folks that want to test their limits as far as the game allows. But there are limits. The game has changed a lot over the last few years but it obviously isn't up to your standards. kzzzzzzt-----zzzzzkt-16- it is ---kkkkkt-- what it --zzzz is.

The sentinel ship is nice but it is actually under powered with respect to weapons. However it does accelerate quickly which is nice in battles. But the ship will get destroyed quickly in the new freighter battles. My living ship and main ship I've had since just after launch day are far more powerful than the sentinel ship.

To be fair there are a lot of difficulty spikes or absurdities that are super confusing for a new player. They can struggle for hours on a survival mechanic and there just find out certain item completely removes that difficulty from the game.

The game is poorly balanced, it's not a mystery
