You can use the game for PVP but its no EVE Online or Fortnite if that's what you are looking for.
In other words, it's not a multiplayer PvP game, it just has multiplayer PvP in it.
If you want NMS for PvP, you don't want NMS.
If they have picakbles or a mining set up its a separate instance and you get resources without affecting them at all. In some Expeditions some players set up mining bases so other players can get resources to speed up the group tasks.
We keep standards for tournaments and know how many shots it takes to get a kill against max shields on both standard and challenging enemy damage. If someone has a tool that deviates from those standards it is very obvious. Some tournaments require equipment checks before any fighting begins.
I guess you can also find players if you google and seek out the player cities.
