We really need a ship builder update.

Imagine this: when you scrap a spaceship, you would also get its body parts stored in a codex (single thruster, triple thruster, long nose, etc..) and you could use these parts to build your own, unique spaceship, probably on the Space Station. Grinding for these parts would be amazing and personally, I'd gladly sink countless hours to find all the parts just to build my own, dream spaceship with custom coloring and parts. Of course, you couldn't put Fighter parts on a Shuttle and vice versa. As for people who would like to hunt for ships, go ahead, no change needed. For its class, it would start from C, because you can upgrade it. (LET US BE ABLE TO UPGRADE OUR FREIGHTER'S CLASS TOO, PLEASE HELLO GAMES!!!444)

Lore-wise, where are all the ships coming from? There's no hangaar or factory at all, other than the Space Station. Ship building would make an amazing feature.

Yes, we do. This has been probably the #1 player request for NMS for years. I'm sure HG is aware of this by now so I think there are three possibilities:

1) They can't do this for technical or design reasons.
2) They don't want to to this, for whatever reason.
3) It's coming, but it takes time.

Since HG does not communicate with players, we have no way of knowing.

I like what Coffee Stain Studios, the Satisfactory developer, did. They posted a YT video discussing the most requested game features and openly and clearly explained why they will never be added to the game, so people can stop requesting them. They also discuss other players requests and suggestions and comment on them so we know what and when may be coming to the game and what bugs are acknowledged and getting fixed.

I wish Hello Games was like that. It creates goodwill and lots of positive vibes for the game and increases player engagement and satisfaction.

You're right, Hello Games doesn't ask or say anything, just surprise us with cool additions. Im not sure about the 1). As for 2), they always delivered what was needed and wanted sooner or later. As for 3), I really hope! They don't have to make it super hard overall, my scrapping method would be satisfying I guess.

There's a website called nmsge.com where you can select various spaceship parts from the list and the web will look for similar ships with the parts you selected with the portal address. I'd like to see that list in-game too!

I also hope it's #3, but it may be hard or time consuming to implement because of the way the game is designed. There would need to be a whole new gameplay mechanism and additions to space stations, bases, etc. HG may not have the time and resources for this. Even the new tool scrapping station has been rushed-squeezed in a weird spot on the Anomaly.

There is already a fixed number of ship parts in the game that are randomly assembled by the game. Just let us put them together ourselves instead having them slapped together by the algorithm. Honestly, a lot of the randomly slapped together ships are atrociously bad looking.

Oh, and please let us paint them too! Black is allright with me :)

Yeah, Im a bit afraid about their ability and resorcues to make a feature like this, but hey, they did many wow features so far: being able to ride animals, they added that huge centipede thing as well, Im pretty sure it wouldn't be THAT much of a problem. At least I hope so!

Assembling the new Staff is a step in this direction. So perhaps, custom ship assembly will come too.

Lol Zak, HG has been in the public spotlight before and that didn't end well (death threats etc.) and regardless of whether it was their own fault, they obviously never want to be in that position again, i can understand that

I know, I heard that HG may be doing this intentionally because of this early experience. But it's been years, the world moved on, the game changed for the better. A short YT video once a month won't hurt them.

We need one of this as soon as possible. It would be nice if you would be able to build your own starship from scratch using parts from destroyed pirates, distress beacons that yield a starship and maybe buy some from vendors. All would be nice and since there are already a ton of parts in the game, it would never be dull.

@Zak, being positive is a good thing yes, but the threats were serious enough for police involvement, who'd willingly place themselves in that sort of position a second time?
