Yes, I did the interceptor method, tbh drop rate was also minimal, maybe you had better luck, considering you have the same settings
Yesterday I spent 130 mil on 2 haulers, got about 40 mil back (cause of settings I guess) and one (ONE!!!) expansion slot.
R.I.P.
All you really need is to farm a few crystal materials (the inverted mirrors and the radiant shards) and take out the materials from the ship (some pugneum, a sentinel shard and the hylacine brain). After that, you just use the brain, find the nearby monument to fix the brain real quick, and then head back to the ship and fly off. They're always powered up and in fairly decent shape, but make sure you're in a system that has a space station, as the warp core is never fueled.
Maybe there are differences on higher difficulties that make this more difficult, but these ships on lower difficulties are worth about 20 million credits and you'll get some materials back from it.
If you find a Harmonic Camp, you can use that as a quick and easy way to find ships without farming Echo Locators, since if you put a save point at the camp you can just come back each and every time to use the terminal to find a new ship.
EDIT: Ahh I see someone already mentioned this. I've had fair luck with it, but rng is rng.
I haven't thoroughly read all the replies but I also play on "sadist" difficulty settings and find the best way to farm these is with Sentinel Interceptors but ideally with A class salvage.
Use a Sentinel Boundary map to locate a pillar to disable the sentinels on the Dissonant planet (there is a RNG chance that the planet will not have one though, and you may need to fight the 5 waves of normal sentinels to get amnesty).
Then you can farm the Resonators for more Echo maps and mirrors, picking up the free combat supplies as you go (the blue combat supplies from the corrupt quads/spiders also have a chance to drop echo maps).
Once you exhaust a camp, use another echo map for another camp and continue farming.
Yep, same here. Highest Difficulty settings, and that's how I do it as well, until I get to where I'm so wealthy I can just use the "buy them to scrap" method.
Considering I never set up industrial bases/stasis farms for money (because I just don't enjoy that), it's usually quite a while where that's my method...I don't get rich quickly in my games.
