Repair crashed ship to scrap/trade ?
I can't find a clear answer to this question; is it worth it to repair a crashed ship to either scrap it or trade it ? Does it make it worth more fully repaired ?

Thanks !

i havent compared the scrap value before/after repairing a ship i found but im gonna guess it does help. when i saw a S class ship and checked its price i could trade in my own ship for 2 milion(my ship was completely broken), then after i repaired most parts and checked the scrapping terminal it offered me a value of 7milion. ill have to check whether the trade-in value of my ship to another ship also went up to 7mil to be sure it does help though

Off topic but OP, I can tell you how to reliably find crashed ships (about 3 per planet) in any system. Let me know if you are interested.

Only the cargo slots are worth repairing to increase the scrap/trade value, the tech slots make no difference.

But, as mentioned, the time and resource required to repair probably outweigh the value gain. Units are so easy to accumulate, the extra here is almost meaningless.

Of course, if you are really into ship salvage for unitary gain, then concentrate on Dissonant planets, echo locator camps and Sentinel Interceptor salvage, since they never have damaged slots and are worth much more at the scrapper, even if only C class.

with autophages which eat spool of nano-cables like crackers, repair crashed ship as far as you can, you'll get more scrapped component.

A sentenal B is worth around $45m. All u need is a brain. I've been farming those. An A is $65m

If you want to make money, considering the time and effort to repair it, it is better to scrap it without repairing it at all and immediately look for the next crashed ship.

I think whether or not it's "worth it" to fix ships depends on how you play. In one of my saves, I decided that selling salvaged-and-repaired ships was going to be my main "business." I just pretended that scrapping ships was actually selling them. So, before I started, I got a freighter (just the free one you get; I didn't care about its class/specs or aesthetics), built all the storage containers on it (though if I didn't play with harsh inventory restrictions, I'd probably only need one, maybe two), then explored planets to fill up most of the storage containers with the resources needed to repair ships, since doing so uses the same basic pool of resources. Once I had a good stock on hand, I went in search of ships to repair. I'd find one, claim it so that it'd pop up to the freighter, and then decide if I wanted to keep it for myself, in which case I'd repair everything on it and then work on getting it upgraded. If I decided not to keep it, I fixed just its cargo slots using my stock of resources, then flew it to the space station to "sell" it. I used some of the money I got to buy a stock of wiring looms that are always needed for repairs. (Though I might look into a mod that allows you to craft wiring looms, since doing this does drive up the cost of buying them.) Then, just repeat the process until my stock of resources was depleted. At that point, I go to a new system and start exploring to fill up my resource stock again.

Some might find this repetitive/boring, but I actually enjoy it, and it gives me a "reason" to explore planets. I wasn't in it for the money (because money is really pretty meaningless in this game past a certain point) so much as I just enjoy exploring planets to gather resources, and I enjoy finding ships to fix. And I'd get a nice amount of ship expansions out of scrapping repaired ships of better classes (A and S) to use on my ships that I found that I kept for myself, and the upgrade modules you get from scrapping ships can be a good source of nanites or resources, whichever you want/need.

But tl;dr, to answer the question from a general perspective: Fixing the cargo slots on crashed ships might be worth it if you have the resources on-hand (or can quickly/easily gather them) to fix them because you do get more money, but not fabulously more. Fixing the tech slots doesn't matter.

in the beginning keep at least two ships so you can summon one if you run out of launch fuel and forgot to refuel it. keep the hauler so you can move cargo around. later on you can trade for better ships. sell the other ones for credits

Depends on the ship. and on your progress.
If you're new to the game it's worth it. easy money and some useful modules for your ship.
Sometimes even the ship itself might be worth keeping it.

Later in game. not that much any more.
But usually there's no complete repair needed but the engines only. so scrap them and enjoy your free upgrades. Easy money
