Multiplayer Issues
Alright I'm grasping at straws here y'all. I've tried so many different things at this point but nothing is working. Multiplayer just doesn't want to work for me and it's super frustrating because I've been wanting to play the new update with a friend. I can see his game on the multiplayer list, but when I tried to join it says "joining server" and then nothing happens. Every time I launch the game, he shows up on my NMS friends list for a split second and then it disappears. I don't see anyone in the anomaly even after sitting there for an hour, Online Discovery Services are green and not showing any issues (I can upload and get rewards too). Yes, multiplayer in game is turned on, and yes our difficulty settings are both the same. We used to play together all the time. I've tried port forwarding on my router to no avail. I've messed with the time settings in Windows 11 and made sure they're all setting automatically to no avail. We can play other multiplayer games on Steam just fine, and even tried replaying NMS after playing another game as a solution and that didn't work. I've set a static IP and that also didn't work. We both tried to verify file integrity/reinstall the game and that didn't work. He has no issues seeing other players, so it's all on me. I'm not sure what else I can try... Any ideas?

Have you tried this?

Check if it is flooded with these entries:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<Data Model="TkGameSettings">

So, I don't think this solution worked, BUT I FIGURED IT OUT HOLY ♥♥♥♥. You mentioned going into those game files, so I figured since I was in the folder why not check out the "GCUSERSETTINGSDATA" just to see what it said. I scrolled through it and found "Network Play" value to be false for some reason, even though it was set to enabled in game? I changed it to true, launched up the game and BAM, instantly started working.... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!

I'd be interested to see if the fix I found would be the same for you? See the above post. Go into that same folder, but edit the "GCUSERSETTINGSDATA" instead, search for "Network Play" and change the value to true if it isn't! I hope this works for you as well!!

Be ready for a lot of problems, I had to disable multiplayer, the game is extremely buggy when multiplayer is active, seems like Hellogames don't care that much about this part of the game, if something doesn't work, always disable multiplayer and try if it works without multiplayer enabled, 99% of the times this fix the problems, I'm hyped by the update, but sad that after 7 yrs, the multiplayer part is still causing a lot of random crashes to desktop and problems. At least we can do quite a lot in singleplayer with that game.

"Network Play"? I ctrl+f'd and didn't see anything with "play", "Network" or "network" in there. You're not referring to the <Property name="Multiplayer" value="true" /> line are you? I'm desperately looking for a MP fix myself and can't find anything promising so far, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed you might have something for me. Half tempted to add this line myself to see if that does anything.

Hello my friend. Did you find any solution? I have this problem for 2 days and I can't solve it. Before everything was fine, but the last 2 days the Anomaly Station is empty! I found the above files, I checked them and they are OK, no problem at all. Where is the problem??

I'm not sure if this solved the problem, but for me and my friend, I think it took BOTH of us having the multiplayer setting enabled in-game for us to be able to play with each other. After that though, we kept getting swarmed by these robots that wouldn't stop attacking us, so the game got old real quick after that (for me at least). Hope this helps.
