Experimental Branch 24/07
Hello Everyone,

First of all, thanks so much to everyone who has already spent time playing No Man's Sky and letting us know about any issues you've experienced.

Steam users are able to opt-in to the Experimental Branch, where we have pushed a patch to address some problems. We'll be rolling out these fixes to other platforms as soon as possible.

To play in Experimental, right-click on No Man's Sky from the Steam library page and select "Properties". Among the available tabs will be the "BETAS" tab. Enter "3xperimental" in the textbox and press "CHECK CODE", then select it from the dropdown menu.

The patch notes are as follows:

Experimental Branch 18/08
  • Fixed an issue with DualSense adaptive trigger feedback on Steam PC

Experimental Branch 01/08
  • Enabled DualSense adaptive trigger feedback on Steam PC

Experimental Branch 24/07
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when resizing an array.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when updating components.

As always, thank you to all players who use Experimental and take the time to report any issues you encounter.

Please note there is the possibility that experimental builds may introduce new issues that haven't been caught in test. We'd like to recommend that all players back up their save files, by making a local copy of the st_[userid] folder found here on PC: %appdata%\HelloGames\NMS\ and here on mac: ~/Library/Application Support/HelloGames/NMS/

Note that we don't anticipate any issues here. However, performing your own backups could mean the difference between resuming play immediately, or waiting for the next patch.

If you decide to opt out of experimental and return to the main branch, we strongly recommend resuming from a backed-up save from the main branch, rather than taking an experimental branch save back to main, which may cause unexpected behaviour.

Feedback and reports of new bugs/issues being found on Experimental are welcome, so please reply to this thread or submit a ticket to https://hellogames.zendesk.com/ with the phrase "Steam Experimental" in the ticket title. If you are running any mods for the game, please list them along with your bug report.

Music, notes of Byte-Bit generators have NOT BEEN UPLOADED to servers for 4 months. What we create with such difficulty, no one can hear. You write good music and random notes come back from the servers.the messages poisoned by us in the message modules are also not loaded onto the servers. Other players see the modules as just EMPTY. Please fix this bug

People are having "underwater breath" oxygen problems, when not underwater. It is a bug someone posts about on the

https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/new/

about every hour. One person posted how he was trying to do the permadeath "to live forever" thing and died due to this bug; the fix, apparently, is to quit the game and start it and log in again.

Noticed that near center legacy named (over 5 years since discovery), biome changes from what is viewed in space to what is rendered once a traveler lands on planet.

Noticed that when following the Galactic Map to core, once arrived at destination system the orange path ends and there is no option to (no line) progress from that system to warp to core. Tested on two different saves within Freighter and in ship.

Pics are of the system w/ default name and discovery name.

AMUs still buggy (why AMUs cannot work same way as Depot Minning (meaning they produce resources, but if they r stolen, they stay)?)
nms 11772667, not fixed (wirring error powered status)

Over 3300+ hrs in game and I've had my first two crashes ever (been lucky?) in the last day or so. Once using the teleporter on a frigate to return to my freighter, and the other using the freighter to warp to another system. Both times the teleporter/warp sequence begins and in 5-10 seconds - crash to desktop! Very worrisome...

Getting ocasional crashes only on this experimental version, mostly on save reload/save switching, no save file corruption present at the moment. Ocasionally i get a large lag stutter while pressing esc so may be related.

let's appeal... to the development manager.
May they stop making further updates. Can you accept after the last 3 updates see this?

All trees (and not just trees) throughout the universe are like this!
They're killing the game with the knowledge that they want to do it, because they think we all spend on Starfield: they can dream it...
The developer (or whoever) hasn't seen the problems we reported for months (not even on Zendesk). Either they settle down or bye...

Anyone else getting crazy framerate drops after the latest experimental update? Something related to the planet terrain maybe. I've noticed it looking straight down at the terrain from a ship and while walking around.

YES! Won't get over 40 fps now on the surface when it was usually pegged at 60.

I completely AGREE with you ! Errors in the game are not eliminated for half a year or more. Or they are not corrected at all !

Yeah I noticed this in the public game. I spent maybe 73 hours last week puzzling over why the tune I had created keeps changing, while visiting my base from another account. The tune plays fine on the local save the song is created on. The same tune in the byte beat playlist is consistent. The tune seems to corrupt on downloading my base. I wonder if uploaded duplicated bases, from different game modes using same names is the cause. I hope a solution can be found soon.

The byte beat is just brilliant fun. This is such a super game. Wish we could have updated longer playlists and a selection of radio channels in our ships and vehicles. Byte beat music adds so much atmosphere to the game, especially with a good sci-fi track. It should be audible in a room at space stations or the Anomaly, somewhere playlists might be traded or purchased in settlements like. Would be fun to add our tracks to the juke box at the settlement bars and store them there. Maybe bars with animated musicians...

Perhaps space stations could have a 'Vinyl' music shop players could 'buy' music albums using nanites or quicksilver. Advertising hoardings with music to discover on massive space stations (aka Bladerunner) haha! . : D NPC vendors with colourful album covers in racks, or a shop sign with a stream of player album illustrations to choose from. :D D :D Whoever created byte beat should be applauded for the wonderful hidden gem it is. It needs updating so more music can be heard throughout the universe :)) This is such a wonderful creative game!

The melody is not damaged. The melody is now simply no longer SAVED to the game servers at all, and when loading your database, other players hear just random notes. As when installing a new Byte-Bit generator. The messages of the Message Modules are also no longer stored on the server. Now they are just empty for all players
